Good morning everyone. This crud that tested negative for everything kicked my butt the last 2 days. Yesterday was the worst. Body aches, freezing, fever vomiting and just in general ready to die feeling. I may have tested negative, but I swear this is the flu. My brother brought home some theraflu yesterday for me, I was finally able to drink some and keep it down last night. This morning I broke over and have drank some hot tea as coffee even still smells terrible. I hate tea, but I want something hot and I need caffeine or else the headache will take me out. Still have not attempted to eat anything, 36 hours without a bite to eat and I know my stomach is not ready. Thankfully my sugar has not dropped, instead I have been dealing with highs. Currently 224, I cannot get it under 200 and it spiked to 330 at one point yesterday. Been testing for ketones and negative so that is good. If I start producing them well, er trip for me. I have not been able to go outside to take care of the chickens since I put everyone up Thursday night, Rosie has been doing that for me. She assures me everyone is well. I hope to feel up to taking a stroll around outside to see for myself at some point today, maybe.
This sounds like a nightmare :hugs :hugs Also, maybe the flu is like Covid? That tests negative even with symptoms beginning, not for a few days until it tests positive, at least with at-home tests. Doctor can't do anything for your blood sugar and symptoms? I'm so sorry. :hugs :hugs

Unfortunately elevated blood sugars come with being sick. I am also on steroids to keep it from settling into my lungs. Low dose only 4mg twice a day for 5 days. That will cause a slight increase but a necessary evil. If I took them like they are traditionally prescribed with a prednisone pack of 6 a day, then 5 and so on, that is a big no no. Found out the hard way 2 years into my type 1 diagnosis when I broke out head to toe with terrible poison ivy and the er doc gave me a steroid shot plus the prednisone pack. 2 days into it dealing with blood sugar in the 600 range and my normal doctor had a heart attack when he learned what the er doctor had done. Finally this evening got down to the 170 range, not perfect but heading into the right direction. The biggest concern with high blood sugar is I develop ketones in my urine which means I have went into DKA. I was worried yesterday, 4 times a stomach virus has sent me to the hospital for a few day stay in the ICU with DKA. I have actually felt almost good today and had some energy. Cleaned up the kitchen although I did not break any speed records and took lots of breaks. My energy has burnt out though so a long nap is coming my way.

Sounds like you may be turning the corner.

Are you using the continuous monitor and pump? Curious how it copes with you being sick.
Feel better!
