We had a visitor today...

Took hubby and me a while to catch her and then I took her home across the road.
Here's a very unflattering picture of us on our way. Chasing a chicken in the drizzly rain is still not in my top 10 favorite activities...

Her owner was happy to see her back though! I guess she ran off when they had to butcher a problem rooster yesterday and ended up under our porch eating birdseed. Then she tried to get in my coop but of course it is locked tight. My neighbor warned me that the foxes are really bad right now for taking birds which is good to know.
She is lucky you found her then, in this case. She looks like a lovely hen 💕

Job well done!

How does a New Zealander find sheep in the tall grass?
Because there is a chicken riding on the ewes back???

What? You’re not a sheep? Too baaaaad.

View attachment 3714079I didn’t get a thirst Thursday photo, but did catch these Dino feet. Color has not been adjusted! So cool. I wonder what her egg color will be.
Who else has chooks with colorful feet? What color eggs do they lay?
Cheetah (gold penciled feathers) Blanche, and PITA (both are splash) all have slate blue legs. Breed egg color: white. (Offspring of this mix have black legs, blue feathers, gold leakage, lay white eggs)

Twirp has willow green legs and lays blue eggs.

I have several with black shanks, yellow skin. Egg color: brown, green

White skin: egg color: brown, white, green eggs

Yellow skin/legs: brown eggs

Feather color varies compared to shank/ skin color too.

Twirp should be enjoying some time in my flock
