Hey everyone! Hope you had a great holiday and plan on a better one upcoming. I'll still be in and out, but I'll try to keep up.

I'm so sorry you've had such a horrible time! There just aren't enough hugs. :hugs

I understand this too. My father was a very good man, truly. But, he was born in 1911, grew up poor, farmed. To him, animals were livestock. Even dogs were supposed to be useful. He shot more than one in his time, if they started loafing or bothering livestock or being destructive. I do know my mom had a little Boston Terrier before I was born that she adored. They were married 14 years before my older brother was born so he was her baby. I would love to know what he'd thought of him. In my life I only knew of him allowing one in the house, and only on the coldest nights. He once said you don't love animals, only people.

But that didn't stop him from bringing in the runt piglets for us to raise.

I'm so glad I had a chance to post this. View attachment 3714839

I still have a rooster. I'm still thinking about it. I am leaning toward rehoming him still.

I had a surprise in the coop today! Someone joined Sheba! View attachment 3714844

:yuckyuck and beautiful eggs! Congratulations 🎈🍾🎊🎉

Today I found myself chasing down this Whiskeyraptor. She has zero chill when it comes to Perry.

The mature gals, however, let Perry join in on some before bed mash! How tolerant, how promising ☺️

Two molts in one season? I didn’t even know that was possible!
I may need to correct myself. I checked through my phone and she had a molt in August. That's not the same season, right?

But Foxy definitely molted twice this winter. It's more like she molted in two stages, and thus replaced all her feathers while always looking gracefully. She is still in her 2nd molt/stage, and on her back you can see a mix of new (lighter colored) and old (darker) feathers with the darker feather getting less and less by the day.

Having to make a major dietary change which will be rough. I don't get to eat any more of the wonderful rich holiday food in my house! And I need to go back to cold-brew coffee, so it isn't as inflammatory. But, I need to do this change so I will be tough.

On the plus side, I made bread.
