Straighten me out. Dakota was found eating an egg "on her platform" - that great TV mount inside your house that is the chickens' perch, right? Then later on she left the house and laid an egg in the coop? How much time in between these events? Did she lay two eggs in a row within hours of eachother, or lay the first way earlier and then accidentally maybe on purpose broke it and ate it many hours later? We need a record check

From the evidence that I found, she laid the soft egg in the night, and in the morning she laid the hard shelled egg in the coop.
Notice the tell tale evidence of egg eating. She’s got yolk on her comb in the picture.

@Lilion 's Sheba is not actually molting, you think? I was thinking she's just replacing feathers in those spots? When they lose feathers from injury, those will grow back only there? At least I thought so. Butters had a bare spot or two (tiny) from the brutal hawk attack (she was mostly bruised) and new feathers came in just there.

Could be, would need to check over her whole body to see if there are other pin feathers. Marty sure didn’t replace her damaged feathers from the silly boys attentions, she didn’t replace them until she moulted after she went broody. Silly chook. But gosh she sure is looking cute now with her fluffy butt

Whoa this too complicated for me! I just about popped a clog trying to figure out my cameras and StarLink…. And what with my power again on the fritz - well it’s just too much for this old lady to handle!

Or this which you posted closer to your original post? that might be yolk on the back of her beak...

That's why they spend so much time in your office with you.....watching you type the password so they know it....

Maybe have either some short perches (i.e. 'perches for one') or put some sort of barrier on a longer perch to 'break it up' so to speak so she has a safe place to escape that way. (like zip-tie or use twine at various places along a long log/perch to tie branches so it creates physical barriers/interruptions along the log.)

Those or great ideas. And I have just the spot to set up a Perch for one Hopefully I could get around to it this weekend.

Great video! As I commented. Yes, I'm a bassist in the Local Youth and Chamber orchestras. I played Spring with my chamber orchestra last winter (out of season ).
