We live near a really big naval base, and their fighter jets fly around all the time. The ones we really see are A10’s. They are these big jets. One day my mom was driving down the dirt road with me, and one banked right down on us and lined us up in their shooting range. They didn’t shoot us, but it was terrifying. It shook are car and it was so low to the ground that I could see the nuts and bolts. And they’ve banked over us multiple times after that. They’ve also flown over our house a ton.

Be glad they are on our side!

Popcorn is not comfortable laying either. She stands, pushes and makes a high, long, descending squeal as the egg comes out. Maybe it's the big effort, and she needs to vocalize as she pushes. Seems like pain to me.

I mean, it is basically giving birth!

Laying eggs can’t be easy I have no issues with them spending hrs in the nestbox if they wish

Yes! I was concerned because she was doing that penguin huddle position on the outside roost and making the most pitiful croaking sound! I just had to crouch down into the run to make sure she was gonna be okay! I told her that she did well and maybe should try laying in the nest box next time and it'll come out easier.

Ash stole an entire heel of bread. Hubby calls her FatAsh.

I didn't even get a chance to rip it in half for the silkies! Usually the four big girls get 1.5 of the heels and the silkies get the last half since they stay to the back of the group.
Oh well, I'll try to seperate them tomorrow and sneak extra snacks their way!

The only way I can keep him alive is if you fly down here and get him. Are you willing to fly across the whole country? I’ve asked people if they want him, and they all say no. I wish that people would take him.

I don't get it. Are you feeling pressured from people around you on this? If you're not sure you want him gone, then don't take his life. What's the hurry? Are you raising chickens for meat?

When I first got Mr P his name was Pom-Pom. I just couldn’t call him that, so I started calling him Pompeii, then it morphed into Mr P

I think that suits him

I still call him Mr. Pompeii. I think he deserves the dignity of a full name and not just a letter. It's bad enough the ladies don't treat him with dignity.

My mom said to me many years ago that the heel of the bread and the crust, were the best part because of the extra vitamins. Yeah right, I didn’t believe that for a second. I mentioned that the exterior of the bread was only the toasted surface and that no additional vitamins were present in the heels.
I said that “yes I am young, but I’m not stupid!” She sent me to my room.
