How’s Larry? I know how happy you were to get a wattled and barred chook!!
Larry is good, and I think laying eggs with a good shell maybe, I will have to check on her today to see what she’s laying if at all.

I am tempted to hatch a few of her Mr P eggs to see what I get. I am not sure how strong the barred pattern is with a splash such as Mr Pompeii 😊💕

Thank you. It certainly isn’t ever easy. One of the chickens that I processed used to be one of my roosters. (Pastel’s half brother) He was an only chick and I was his “mama.” He would fly up on my head as a chick but when I put him outside with the others he started to attack me. I rehomed him and about a year later my friend wanted to process him, so I did, along with some RIR’s she raised for meat. I’m sorry about your chicken. How did she go blind?
She was either born blind or because she was right under the heat lamp went blind. We got her from a farm with other meat chickens. She was a barred rock named Peeps because she peeped constantly to find her way around. Her flockmates actually helped her out a lot! But it was my job to make sure Peeps went to bed at night since she couldn't find the door.

Hi Larry. Aren’t you such a pretty stripy chook?
You k ow I am just happy she now has feathers, she was like Marty with a bald back, she was laying soft brittle eggs that she would then lay in and make her belly all soggy and cruddy, and was just horrible looking, I was never so happy to see her moult, I keep her butt trimmed up and I have been giving her calcium tablets to hopefully help with those brittle eggs. I haven’t see any in a while from her.

Marty also has been getting calcium - she is laying nice eggs now.
