Hahahahaha belief elders you ladies are killing me hereView attachment 3742389
I think Sunny laid this egg. She's one of my Belief Elders. <--I love that!
A leghorn on your lap means you are most lucky.Just like tax.
Here's Josey the Leghorn. She has gotten more friendly with my lap over time. I still have to catch her and that's hard, but she will sit on my lap now. Truly intelligent.

Ooh interesting idea about it being a pullet anticipating growth. When you crack it open, I wonder if you will be able to tell whether it’s excess egg membrane that lengthened and got shelled over, or rather an extra bit of the chalazae (the twisty inner string that holds yolk centered).Found this egg the other day...guessing a pullet is anticipating an increase in egg size....?View attachment 3742416That is shell....
Last year I got BPR's, but I'm looking for heritage. I also want to pick the chicks up, (westlock is a little past Edmonton, which isn't too far away, considering Edmonton is an hour away, and Calgary is 2 hours away--actually 2 and a half...) because for the number of times something gets delayed, or gets lost... I just don't want that happening to my chicks. (I do want copper marans though...and millers is really expensive...)Peavey here in Alliston, gets some from Freys Hatchery, and also up from Hoovers in the US. I think Hoovers is in Iowa. I am surprised they wouldn’t ship to AB. Calgary or Edmonton would be a direct shipment I would say.
Freys has nothing I am interested in, Hoovers has a better selection of breeds.
I just checked out Millers but they don’t ship to Ontario. Oh well, just as well I can get most of their breeds easily here except those Andalusian ones.
Isn’t that the way with everything.
You might try Freys, if your looking for dual purpose birds - they are a dealer with the SASSO line of birds bred by Hendrix Genetics for meat/eggs. And they have Speckled Suspects and Orps also. And blue and dark egg layers (marans hybrid), they do shipping cross Canada as far as I know.
