Gosh what a good ballPlayful pup (he lost the first ball, but found it again after I stopped recording, lost the second ball, the one in video, lost the first ball again, then found it as I was giving up. 2nd ball, in video, is buried out there along the fence line)
She really is a spectacular looking chicken.View attachment 3742668

That's more like it, Josey.
Why do people think animals are incapable of surviving? Esp birds! If he is doing well in the wilds of NY they may as well leave him be. I do feel for him not having a mate, and I wonder if he might strike up a friendship with a local species.I meant to post this for Pony Sunday but forgot.
Some difficult ethics issues highlighted. But I for one am rooting for Flaco.

And because it is not Pony Sunday I will pay tax on non-chicken talk: a one legged fluffy butt.

Lovely!I am several days behind again. I will get caught up tonight but I need to show you all this and make a announcement.
Owly is indeed laying. I have not caught her in the act, but I have caught her singing the egg song not too far away from a freshly laid warm egg a couple times this week.

Queen Aurora has always been her role model. She idolizes her and strives to do everything in her little chicken body to live up to the Great Queens standards. Grow a mighty fine beard. Check.

Always be underfoot so if anything is handed out she gets to be first to sample, even if it means taking a peck from her Queen Raven. Check

She is among the youngest of the flock so you would think she would be near the bottom of the pecking order. You would be wrong. She is bold, she is fearless and she also shadows Raven. I have caught her putting some of the other hens in their place. Well, the place she thinks they belong. She sticks up for Poppet, if a hen tries to be mean to her while she is out with me Owly gives them a thumping. I do see this little girl one day striving to be Queen herself. If she keeps learning, I do not think that will be a bad thing. Long live Raven though so many years into the future please.
Most importantly, the Great Queen Aurora decrees that the most special eggs are pink. She vows that much to her humans annoyance that Blue eggs are overrated, pink is what one must strive for.
Owly's response...

I've only ever had an EE or a bitsa on my head. And if they poop on your head it’s extra good luck!
I'm just seeing this. Poor Marty and bad, bad Larry. Similar happened the other day with Poppet. I am making it a point to spend about 20 minutes outside with the chickens in the even before bed. I open up the coop and allow Poppet some supervised free range. Grouchy Gryffyn the big behemoth cochin decided to yank out some of Poppets neck feathers. Poppet shrieked and Owly plowed into her like a wrecking ball. Marty cuddles? Did she actually settle and enjoy them?Tonight that Larry got hold of poor Marty by the head and dragged her across the barn floor! Poor Marty! She screamed blue murder, Mr P came and broke it up, I picked up Marty for some cuddles. Then plunked her in a nestbox for the night.
