Patricia Routledge is the actress.

Another wonderful English detective is Jane Tennison (though we already have a Jane from Jane Rizzoli. But Prime Suspect was an epic show with Helen Mirren in the Jane Tennison role! And there is always Morse or Luther.
And how about Jacques Clouseau - the detective in the Pink Panther movies.
Thanks for the name. Hetty Wainthropp is the role I was thinking of.

Hmm: Marple, Wainthropp, Tennison, Rizzoli, Fletcher

Needs be Miss Marple....Mrs Fletcher, Hetty....Mirren....Rizzoli or Kendra....

If one turns out to be klutzy, Clouseau is a must....and if one is super picky about arranging feathers just so, then Poirot is a must.

Character evaluation is an ongoing thing.

More suggestions are welcome, too.

Two ideas leap to mind.

1. They are puppy training chickens so they could be called by puppy commands: Stay, Sit, Down, Drop, and Leave-it. I am already chuckling at the confusion this will create once Sherlock is fully trained and you are calling for the chickens to come for breakfast.
It is almost irresistible!

2. They are specifically Sherlock training chickens so they could be named after other fictional detectives. If you want all girl names you could have: (Miss) Marple, Nancy (Drew), Precious (Ramotswe), Jessica (Fletcher), and Jane (Rizzoli). Or if you aren't fussed about gender appropriateness you could mix in Monk, Columbo, Hercule or Poirot.

Hi everyone. It's been a rough month with too much work and illness. Am at the tail end of an unknown virus currently. Tested negative for cold and flu. Fortunately we are having a beautiful week so the chooks and pups have been getting more outside time.
Sorry to hear about nasty virus and lovely to see you back here again. Look after yourself - it takes a while for your body to fully recover.
