Hi everyone,
We are all still trucking along. I will try to get on this evening for a bit.
Dirt has a announcement though seeing as how it is pony sunday.

Laid her first egg in almost 11 months. Dang it, I had hoped she was done.

Dirt is also betting that she is broody in under 2 weeks time.

He knows he is probably right about that too.
I dear friend! :frowGlad to see one of your posts.

Babies made it through the night just fine. Exploration (and discipline, thank you Cuckoo) has commencedView attachment 3768569Focus and Mera

Chia, Cuckoo, Kate, and Blurr (just before Blurr jumped off, and marched up to Cuckoo and got blasted)View attachment 3768570

Kate also jumped up on Pear, who simply shrugged her off and went back to eating after giving a stern look.

When I stopped in to get adult food on Tuesday, the store still had some of the chicks from the second batch. I ended up getting 2 more...another sussex (the biggest of the ones left) and another Brahma (looks like a light one this time). They settled in with the others. The sussex dove right in and is almost as assertive as Kate (who will likely be queen one day). The Brahma took a little more time, but has gotten just as bold as the others (dive into the middle of the pack and grab feed).

Those 2 need names. Options: use Daisy and Liz (the others were cut so short), find new names, make a blend of Nox and Liz for at least the sussex.....wait a while and see what falls out to match personalities....
More babies! 💕

They have not even thought of bringing in babies here yet; not till end of April.

I am keen on Daisy and Liz (yes re use those names) but also waiting - I am sure they will chose wisely 🥰

That is what I am thinking - and in fact wall along. Though what she was better after the antibiotics is up on the air.
It seemed that she started feeling better the evening before those two eggs even passed? Then again I binge read BY Bob’s thread with weird intermissions, so I could easily have misunderstood the timeline 😅

That’s a better way to frame it! I suppose it’s the complaining immediately afterwards that irks me. But really it’s just Becky who has so much to say about the infrequency of their treats 😂

I have the same question as RC. I tried growing grains for them but they got so moldy, ages before they even turned green. I have tons of BOSS so this would be a worth another try. Unfortunately I probably keep my house too cool (64 degrees) for the seeds to germinate and grow before the fungus takes over.

This is today’s free veggie haul! What a score- some of their favorites! My wife was all flabbergasted: “That’s for the chickens?! But we like broccoli too!”
Alas, I’ve mentioned this before, but my girls don’t find cabbage to be worth their while. Won’t even touch it 😖. What a shame!
Mine re the other way!!

Show them broccoli and they run and hide, show them a cabbage and I run and hide hahaha for my life! They practically knock me over to get at the cabbage. 😊

I had to save these little peeps 🐥,

I took her to the vet Thursday, started her on the antibiotics that afternoon, when I got home from work Friday afternoon she was tearing around outside with everyone like normal!

Yesterday (Saturday) she was eating drinking and seemingly back to normal.

Then last night at 8pm when I did last check of the night I found she had laid the two eggs.

She is now seemingly fine - go figure.

She is continuing with the antibiotics, she has a 10 day (20 doses) course of them.

As I have never had a retained egg before I can’t say if that is normal or not…?
