my family has to be the dumbest people on earth… Guess who has a 105 pound German Shepherd in the back of her car? Me. We met up at a dog park. He did well with the other dogs there. He seems really good. We are going to keep him unless things don’t work out with us and our dogs. Apparently his owner had chickens before and Charlie was scared of them. View attachment 3768849

I LOVE LOVE LOVE German Shepherds! I have one and he is the greatest. He's 4 years old and 78lbs, so on the smaller side. BIG bark, lots of shedding, and yes, big teeth. But he is the most loving, loyal, fun dog. He is very vocal. More so than a husky, but that could be just him. He's adorable. It is very true what they say about them attaching to the women. My picture won't upload.

You could try fodder. I found an awesome article about it yesterday... and closed the tab. Now I can't find it anymore

Here is a link to an article about Fodder I agree with growing fodder for many of the reasons they state, but don't be fooled by the cost effective claim many make. They speak of turning 50lbs of seeds into 200lbs of feed......EXCEPT - you are SOAKING the seeds - so most of that weight gain is water weight, not nutrient weight. Plus, the seed uses some of it's stored energy to sprout - I read a scientific study (which, of course, I can't find atm) in which they did nutrient/calorie analysis of seeds, and of the sprouted seeds at various stages. It was determined that the seeds needed to grow for approximately 14 days before they had as much or more nutrition than prior to germinating.

Again, it still doesn't make it bad for them - just keep in mind that merely sprouting the seeds doesn't make it more nutritious/caloric dense, and hence NOT a money saver - but I find it IS great fun for them to gobble down, and it is FRESH, and if you have the time/space and are able to buy seeds on sale and let it get to the fodder stage (go 4-6" not the 1-3" they suggest if you are concerned about economics) as opposed to just sprouts - it is a win - win.

Yes! Those dogs are big, and nice too! They always huddle up to me when I am leaving the house.

Mud room?

Are your dogs neutered ? That will be the big factor. Always hard with one female and two males even neutered.

I generally don’t introduce grown dogs into a pack unless one is super good with dog handling. Like horses, dogs can be dangerous.

Yeah, it’s a mud room. my brain forgot what it was called.

Yeah, they are neutered. Oh, Diana is the boss. She is small, but she will put everyone in their place. One time at Pet Paradise, she had two big German Shepherds following her around like bodyguards And she’s my dog too, she knows that I’m the one to trust most. But I will definitely keep that in mind.

My dad is good at handling dogs. And I’m pretty good with horses, although I’d say it’s very different than with dogs.

With horses, don’t you let them touch noses through a fence before putting them in together? I’ve seen my instructor do that multiple times. We did that on the leash, but Apollo tried to attack Charlie. Right now Char is in the mud room and he’s looking at Apollo and Diana through the glass.

I think I said something about how I’ve not cried about Coach in a while? Well that just changed. I hugged Charlie the way I used to hug Coach. Charlie was sitting next to me on our couch and I just wrapped my arms around his neck, just the way I used to do with Coach. When I realized, I started crying. Charlie reminds me of Coach in so many ways. He has the same eyes as him. It’s not the best picture, but it’s the only good one I have of his face.
