My neighbour popped over to say one of my chickens was over there.

Nope they are all here!

So she shows me the wayward chicken and I said ……

Her though I will keep!!!

How she didn’t get eaten getting all the way down here from my neighbour 1km up the road I will never know! It’s heavy bush and swamp. She’s one lucky clucky!

Spoiler: You didn’t think I would make it easy now did you?

I am calling her Lucky

It is important to remember that there can be a direct correlation between who lays eggs first and the pecking order.

Aurora fell behind Maleficent because Mel laid her first egg before Aurora did.

Sydney moved ahead of Sansa because Sydney laid first. Once Sansa laid her first egg she was vicious towards Sydney and took her place back.

My guess is this will clear up as soon as Calypso feels secure in her position in the pecking order once again.

I hope so. Piglet was one of the first of the Pentagonists to lay. But she is very tiny.

Hello FBF, I am doing some chicken sitting with a heavy heart, my mama passed on the 7th, she had been ill for some time. I got to travel back to Delaware to see her shortly before and I am grateful for that.

I was thinking that I loved that she is still there in spirit with her offspring.

@rural mouse Is there any chance you could get a couple of her daughter's eggs to hatch? I know it won't be the same, as the ones you hatch will only be 25% Thing.....but I love her independence and her top knot.....maybe one of her granddaughters will have the independent spirit, too? Would FIL either hatch some eggs out, or let yo take a few of their eggs to hatch?

I'm sure he would let me have eggs. He's only getting 2-5 eggs a day...in the coop... I suspect a hidden nest. He said if a hen turns up with chicks fine. Otherwise he's not getting more chicks. I'm not ready for more babies (unless a broody raises them). The SIL and niece have eggs coming for the incubator so not worried about it this year. I may see about it when they're done with it or for next year.

Don't run off, Marie! I've hardly "seen" you lately.

I just fell asleep with my fur babies and I'm still tired.

I've had a fab afternoon night and breakfast morning with my son. He wore me out and spoiled me rotten. I rarely get to see him. This is the first alone time we've had in so many years. It was really a wonderful experience

It wasn't possible to cook a complex meal today, so I've just made a really quick spicy lentil and vegetables soup

I've had a fab afternoon night and breakfast morning with my son. He wore me out and spoiled me rotten. I rarely get to see him. This is the first alone time we've had in so many years. It was really a wonderful experience
