I put her on the roost bar but if she decides to go broody too...well dad has a rabbit hutch he can get me to finagle onto the coop for broody booty jail.
I was hoping we could wait til the weather warmed again to get those hutches from grampa haha...

I also JUST turned down 3 ayam cemani eggs for $10 each...we don't have room...

Not to worry, they will be fine if they are both broody together - I have my twins Fluffy and Curly always going broody together. I shove them in a nest box together and they are happy as pigs in mud

Last May, Cirly and Fluffy with chicks they fostered. I shoved 4 chicks under them and they happily raised them!

Okay I will try to get them to nest together! I am worried if Samara takes the second box, since I only have the two. Silly me thought that I'd be setting the new coop up soon, but with gramma in the hospital dad hasn't had any construction time.
Samara is lead hen and I'd say Morinth is holding as her second. Ash and Shep just...exist in the group? Kasumi does a little picking on and getting picked, and poor Liara is now at the bottom. So I think they're okay for not getting harassed off the nest.

You know before I had this motley crew of chooks I had a lot more bedtime drama. Lately now though (since winter), I have noticed that everyone seems to be getting along at bed time.

I think it’s because I have a hoard of them all wanting to mostly roost together. They March in there around 6pm and start getting in their spots and settle down for the night.

Do those of you with hoards of chickens also find this?

Not to be an enabler but have you given any thoughts on getting a few more? I know you worry about them picking up something but your chicks from last year have thrived under your care. It might solve some of the Piglet issues, she won’t be the only one odd man out then.

I can’t get chicks this year in part because I will be away for six weeks in the summer. I am worried enough about the cats and grown Princesses. I would lose my mind if there were chicks too!

I have had the experience of witnessing many family members passing on.

Rosie is sick, I suspect strep throat, or a horrible sinus infection. Everything is starting to bloom and she is highly allergic to just about every dang tree that is native to Kentucky. She has a dr appointment this afternoon. My grandmother is slipping away. She has been in a comatose state for 24 hours now. Her heart rate and blood pressure that had been slowly dropping are now rising and getting higher each time they are checked. We sit with her and talk to her but no response other then moaning when me and mom change her position or change her. This is both of ours first experience with taking care of someone at home in the dying process. I have untolds amount of respect for those workers in a hospice and healthcare setting that deal with this on the daily basis. This is breaking me. 2 years now, today makes 2 years since she had the stroke and mine and my mom's life became centered around her every need.

It's a rare thing for me to have fish and chips now. When I arrived at this current home after losing an incredible amount of money. I had little choice but to grab whatever I could but not now.

You can't imagine what I lost, (,i try not to think about it) possibly enough to have bought my own home. All thanks too evil minded nasty people.
I was lucky too still have my life and my precious dog.

The Financial loss would never have replaced my whacky dog, if I had to make a choice it would be him every time.
