When I went to put the girls to bed, Samara was on the perch outside the coop. She trilled at me when she saw me, and I put her in the coop. I guess there must be some roost drama happening. Thankfully she seems to not want to be broody right now.
As for Morinth, her keelbone is getting noticeable. I might have to start giving her more snacks since she's sitting on the nest.

Just keep hauling her off a couple times a day and bringing he away from the nest to eat drink and poop. Some sardines and scrambled eggs and scratch grains don’t hurt.

How long has she been at it now?

Once she finishes being broody she will also moult. So don’t expect eggs any time soon. With my silkies it’s usually 6 weeks: broody for a few weeks, then moult then they start laying again.

She's been at it for two-ish weeks so I'll definitely keep an eye on her.

What all have I missed the past few days?

Polishes are growing! One isn’t a polish though… she has a heart in the back of her head, so her name is Aphrodite. I’m not sure what she is, but it certainly isn’t a polish.

I’m hatching some eggs. The person who gave me Pastel and Splotch’s eggs wants me to hatch out some (buff orp eggs.. I think?) for her, so I am. I am allowed to put two Bolt eggs in for myself. I wanted to argue that it should be three that way if one of my eggs doesn’t hatch, there’s a chance that there will still be two chicks. Nope, only two eggs. If there does end up being only one chick, I might give it to my friend who asked me to hatch them.
Or I may just raise her by herself. I have done it before, with a rooster named Pumpkin. He was a single egg, and out of that singe egg, came a stunning BR roo. He was Pastel’s half brother. I have him away to a friend and then she processed him because he attacked her and the hens. I was there when she processed him and some of her other roosters. I actually cut his throat, as well as some other roosters. It relieves me that I can kill a chicken if I need to. That’s what’s important to me. If one of my chooks is suffering, I know how to cull her without causing her pain.

The eight eggs are going in tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what hatches.

Oh, also, Dad said that I will probably be able to hatch out a bunch of chooks this summer to go in with our goats, whenever we get them.
