Can your neighbors see into that paddock? I can only imagine how it would look to see you suddenly burst into jumping jacks atop manure mountain

Yep - their auto shop is in the back so my neighbours husband is always out there, one day I was out there doing fence repairs, I was wearing my swim suit and my tall black rubber boots.

When I got up to the back of the fence he came out laughing telling me he at first thought I was walking around naked with my rubber boots on only

Now I make sure to coverup no matter how hot and humid it is

I think all that calcium is helpful when they go to put a shell on their egg… if they bypass the shell making station altogether, it doesn’t really matter how much calcium is on board. I’m not sure what makes the egg skip that step though

I heard from my veterinarian that stress, bullying can cause premature egg production. Canna had that problem, but then had hatched a clutch of seven baby chicks.

Hi RC, work and illness has kept me away. I'm not having a good start to 2024 but the past few days have been great. Sunday my daughters and granddaughter was over and we had a great time. Anna caught a 19 inch bass besting me and her auntie. Today Mike came over, he's recovering well even though chemo has been a bit rough. I had the big fish of the day, an 18 inch bass and several more were caught. We gave Mike 3 young hens for Big Blue (Cholo 4).

I am also at a loss as to figure out why Petunia is laying soft eggs. And she is just a mutt, not one of those production breeds you would expect to see that in.

Oof. So Perry may never lay a good egg

She has a new bullying problem: Whiskey will decide to go give her a quick reminder of her position as rock bottom, but Perry will squat for her like she’s a rooster instead of running away! So then Whiskey gets in a whole bunch of aggressive pecks and destroys feathers while Perry holds perfectly still…

Has this happened to anybody else? Any solutions? POI, Whiskey does not squat for me when I reach for her- she is adamant that I am not the flock rooster. Which I don’t need her to think I am unless it’s related to this bullying?

It is tough to watch. I think the squat is to show submission. Piglet was squatting while Calypso beat the crap out if her. Now Calypso seems satisfied that Piglet knows her place and has let up, at least for now.
