Yes, in the late fall and early spring. But this was a big one, a centimeter of ice here and there, more in some places, less in most places. But lots of power outages, and even after our power came back we had two drops.

Serious thought to next desk computer (this one with Win10 is from 2015) being a laptop for this reason, the battery/ power supply is great when there’s breaks in power or drops in voltage. It would need to be able to support two external screens, a real keyboard, a real mouse, additional external backup hard drive, etc.

I like the idea of a laptop. That makes sense.

None had done that before....at least not after they got big enough to semi-tangle themselves in it....come to think of it... I don't think any have done that except her (Belladonna) once they're fully feathered out/old enough to not need "mama" for warmth.

I've tried posting pictures 3 times and they wouldn't upload and still won't.

Princess just didn't want to go to bed today. She was out until almost 7 o'clock
Picture upload failed a 4th time. She had a great time in the garden. Running away every time I tried to get her inside

Hahaha princess is too funny! My gang is like that also, they don’t roost till gone 7pm. The olde ladies go at 6 though

Oh no! Someone stole half of Calypso’s beard. Only her left side has been plucked.
I can’t figure how that happened.
I haven’t seen anyone do that to her. She roosts between Tassels and Pooh usually. Tassels’ beard is intact.
I did see a lot of tiny black feathers in the nest where she lays her egg. Could someone have thrown her out of the nest box by pulling on her beard?
Poor Calypso. She looks a bit naked.


I don’t see any wounds. Should I do anything? And if so, what?!

It's a little hard to see well in a 2-D photo because she is a dark color. But in the last picture, there's a spot or two of red, on that side of her neck. Is that a raw spot? Here the photo is again -

Not sure if the initial pole/2x2 will work, but I think it's a good stepping stone if it doesn't. Wonder if you can work some sort of quick release with bungee cords or chain and carabiner...to work with both the sturdiness of the frame/support and the flexibility of the netting...

How does a chain and carabiner work? I'm not picturing what you mean.

The 2x2 / pole idea is to make an edge like an awning, like an RV shade pull-out. Then that would connect / hang on a hook in a couple of places. If there were ice / weight already on it, maybe the tension wouldn't be so concentrated at a single point when spread along the pole? (Why I had to cut a couple attach points, the weight pulling on it right there was too much for me to lift /pull enough to loosen the net against the carabiner and get it off.)
