A short tale for Trio Tuesday:

Albert and Perry are scarfing mash, yum! Can you all just hear Whiskey complaining back there? (It was loud). Oh man, she is so going to elbow her way in.

Elbow, elbow, shove, Whiskey is in! Our happy trio resumes their meal.

It dawns on Albert and Whiskey at the exact same time that it’s meant to be Twofer Tuesday, and that Perry is actually their rival, and why are they even sharing?!

Lol took them a while to realize that Perry had snuck in on that meal.

It's a little hard to see well in a 2-D photo because she is a dark color. But in the last picture, there's a spot or two of red, on that side of her neck. Is that a raw spot? Here the photo is again -

How does a chain and carabiner work? I'm not picturing what you mean.

The 2x2 / pole idea is to make an edge like an awning, like an RV shade pull-out. Then that would connect / hang on a hook in a couple of places. If there were ice / weight already on it, maybe the tension wouldn't be so concentrated at a single point when spread along the pole? (Why I had to cut a couple attach points, the weight pulling on it right there was too much for me to lift /pull enough to loosen the net against the carabiner and get it off.)

My thinking was just that instead of a hook use a pad eye and a carabiner - same idea as the hook but things like that can lift and sway about so it might come off a regular hook.

Yup. That is what I meant. Them a carabiner through the pad eye and the pole attached to the carabiner with something like a wire ring that gives you a tiny bit of flex.

Carabiner: thinking maybe eyeball (autocorrect to that ... twice: E-y-e-b-o-l-t) or some sort of other attachment to the 2x2, chain around what it's connecting to, carabiner to clip back to self. Cam be adjusted for greater/lesser tension by moving where carabiner on end clips back to or completely removed by unblinking (u-n-c-l-i-p-p-i-n-g) for a quick release if you need it down NOW.

Yup. I think you and I have the same picture in our heads.
Eyebolt vs pad-eye is a question of how easy to fix. I love pad-eyes because they can be surface mounted.

Hardware tax: Babs on a mission to eat ALL the worms revealed by me digging up that PVC pipe. I never saw so many worms disappear so fast!

Thanks to you I now have these memories in my photo album. I'd lost these pictures when my old phone died on me

I have not. Phyllis has laid 3 perfect eggs since that day. Glynda had not laid since that day and I was starting to worry that it might have been her. But she laid this beauty today. The shell is quite firm.
