As RC pointed out, one lash egg on its own doesn’t mean a death sentence, if you have some amoxicillin I would dose her for a week with that, after all it is an infection, and treating it as such will give her a good quality log life.

Nothing is guaranteed, she could be killed by a fox, or hawk. There are plenty of hazards out there for the chooks.

In fact Red is proof that they can be on deaths door one day and months later still be with you, jumping up I n the air for the piece of bagel her Hooman so kindly is offering (owww! Leave the finger sister).

Here she is under my lawn chair snoozing - hoping I’ll drop my bagel 😊

Just to underscore the point. Maggie laid three lash eggs in her first episode.
I took her to a generalist vet who offered to euthanize her on the spot.
I declined and took her home. Some months later she laid a normal egg.
Two years later she laid another lash egg, was never ‘sick’ but died a couple of months later.

I still miss her and don’t regret taking her back home from the vet. Here she is on safari - hunting bugs in the long grass.

Fluffy Butt friends and family. Please pray for my family over the next few days. My grandmother's struggle is finally over and she is now at peace and pain free.
:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs I am so sorry for your loss, and am praying for you and your family. I know she will be very much missed. I do not recall whether or not you mentioned if she was a believer, but if she was, isn't it a wonderful thought that she went to meet her maker in time to celebrate His Resurrection with Him?

You chicken people, please don’t be like me. I’ve been babysitting Sir Jaffar for several days, and he hasn’t died. He has beaten all odds from whatever he has, but he’s now lost sight in his good eye, and relies on his girls to lead him to food. I have put my life on hold for too long now. Humans are counting on me for their survival as well. The stress of all this is real, and getting to me lately. I don’t know what to do anymore.
I am so sorry Alex. I wish that I could think of something else to say. Jaffar is a fighter. Who knows, maybe he will surprise you, but he has been hanging on for months, hasn’t he? Poor guy and poor you. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
