Spilled water everywhere. Ate up all the chick feed , pooped on my chair and carpet. I’m calling KFC!!!

She would be a good one if/when you get chicks. Wait until she's been broody a while, then tuck babies under her to raise. Whichever year you do that.

OK. That’s it. Tassels is back in lock-up.
She sat for 22 days. 23 of you count the first day.
She has lost just over 12% of her body weight and the last two days she wouldn’t stay out long enough to eat when I hauled her out.
Once Piglet stopped being broody Tassels stopped getting off the nest on her own.
I am sorry Tassels but I think it is for your own good.
She already ate more in her crate in the last ten minutes than she has in days.

My three baby Majesty Marans arrived and they also had Lavender Orps!

So now Curly has a M. Marans and a Lav Orp. And Whiskers has 2 M. Marans under her.

So far all seems good.

Meanwhile my Barred Rock chick is going be a good mama - the Bantam baby snuggles up by her and she dropped her wing over her - gosh soooo cute!

Those two bantams are so tiny next to the big chicks!

I think you have a gorgeous Roo in the making there with your Wyandotte - and I bet he will be an amazing Roo.

He already is an amazing roo. Just too small yet for the larger ladies to listen to his instructions

Furious, sad, upset

Whiskers has killed here two chicks I put under her. I was only up at the house an hr and ran back to the barn to check them. She had killed them. She has lost her chance to ever have chicks ever again and this weekend she will go to broody breaking jail.

I really thought she would take to them, she was at day 19.

Now I can only hope that Curly keeps her babies. She did the shimmy and tucked them up under her so I can hope she is a good mama.

I have only had good luck with my broodies so to have this happen is a total shock. I guess I won’t be fostering babies on hens anymore, too much risk of harm to the babies - and not hatching eggs either, too much risk of Roos.
