In Albis Ate A Bird.
In Albis found a small, featherless, presumably dead baby bird and ate it before I could stop her. Do you think she'll be ok? Anything I should do? She practically swallowed it.
It is kind of disgusting to watch when they do that.
I am sure she will be OK.
Mine ate a whole nest of baby mice once while I looked on in horror!

I hope she will. I remembered rat steak and figured she'd be fine.

The most upsetting part of this is that my family has had a bunch of rescued birds lately and I'm sure if this one was alive it would've ended up being rescued.

Also, Gaby just gave In Albis a nice hard peck.

A whole nest of mice?! Wow!

I thought fluffy eating the snake was crazy!

And I tell the barn swallows to make sure their babies know how to fly well before making the. Escape from the barn!

My contribution to Pony Sunday.
The turkey was wary of me. The rabbit was too busy munching to pay much attention to me.

We have little sparrows here and the chooks tolerate them. But raw meat is too yummy to pass out.

In Albis says we need a supply of baby sparrows instead of mealworms. She got a peck for that comment.

Baby mice. They were still blind and hairless and they apparently went down a treat with a sip of wild water!

Broke my humorus arm bone May 6 & in pain
Omg. I am so sorry to read this. That must be incredibly painful.
so haven't caught up all FBA posts plus typing w/one finger at a time here so haven't got to end posts yet to see how your chick is doing?

We've had special needs chicks in the past & resolved early on to do as necessary including keeping them as indoor special needs pets. One chick we lost at 3 wks while another very needy chick w/ some deformity lived to 3 months. A friend has a hen who lost one wing as a chick & became a house chicken cuz if she fell or got knocked down she couldnt stand up again & roos mercilessly took mating her in crippled defenseless posture. Our vet had a Starling w/ an amputated wing he chose to save as an ofc mascot rather than kill.

Be prepared to care for a special needs bird. Some owners simply cull deformed chicks which may or may not be suitable for all owners. We do get attached to our birds & wish to do all we can.

I would not advise special goggles or apparatus as other curious chickens will pull it off. Just a band-aid on my hand & chicks or chickens want to tear it off or peck off my wedding ring w/ surprising beak strength! I will keep reading these FBA posts to catch up news on everyone's birdies & pets!
I am just pleased you are here. Please heal. Replies can come later
