Glad you’re having a good time.

As Alex isn’t near any of his chickens in can hardly have him pay his owed taxes, but the rest of you with the non-chicken chitchat owe tax.

I expect the following:

Wattles
Stripes or dots
And babies 😊♥️

Hop to it lovely people I know you all have gorgeous chooks I want to see them!

My tax
Those two wee bantams are giving me fits! They are determined to roost with their bigger cousins all snuggled up between them - here they are I can barely see them in the camera!

Hopefully they don’t fall off the roost.
They're using the warmth of the bigger chicks to keep their own warmth until they get their feathers in. SMART little things. They're going to LEAD your bigs on adventures and into mischief!!!

Oh I feel they are training those BO and the BR to be good broody mamas - they snuggle up under their wings hahahaha too funny! Those older girls babysit them pretty good.

They have very tight feathering, they are very sleek. They do not like the cold at all, and they hate the wind. They must be related to me 😆

I bet it’s nice 😊 sand, palm trees, warm weather.

When I was in the Dominican Republic I went in a tour of the interior and the guide proceeded to grab two Roos who were obviously used for fighting, and throw them into a ring where we were sitting; we were all shocked and not quite sure what the heck to do, after all we are 2 hrs away from the resort at the mercy of this guy! I had already had words with him and was doing my darnedest to be polite. Thankfully another person spoke up and told him non of us were interested in seeing the ‘fight’ - everyone was relieved.

Couldn’t stand the DR and I was very glad to leave and go home, the people were very rude and I feel it has to do with being on a resort - which I had never been on before - the staff always had their hands out for money. I am sure they are very poor but I felt I had more freedom and felt safer when I was on Cairo! Where people are extremely poor, but would gladly invite you into their homes, I was invited to come into a wedding party going on one night when I was out walking. Me a complete stranger! I declined as I had to meet my friend 😊 but no one made me feel like I was obliged to give them anything (other then this one camel guy who again obviously was used to browbeating tourists).

Ok here is my tax

I wasn't sure if they would hatch - supposedly goslings are very hard to hatch when not under a broody....so I am quite pleased that out of 7 eggs, one of which was a dud . . and the oldest egg was11 days old when I got # 7...this is what hatched:

Supposedly Embden can be sexed by their coloring - the females are darked. I'm thinking

I have 1 female and 3 males. (darkest one is on the far right of last pic)

Thoughts anyone? 1 female, 3 males? Or do you see some other ratio??

I am okay with 1 female - I thought my one girl Delilah, is getting 'over worked' by Sampson, so thought another female would be good. I know they tend to be 1-1, but I have seen Sampson trying to mate my largest female duck, so clearly he 'strays' a bit.... maybe another female will take a bit of the stress off Delilah during mating season? (And, yes, I have checked. in the poultry world, a dad mating his daughter is genetically okay, mating a sister is not. That said, if I ever wanted to expand the geese, I would purchase more stock - and from a different source, so genetically different....I only wanted another female so Delilah doesn't get a completely bare back of the neck and worn wing feathers.)

Anyways, they are so cute! I know, I need another project like a hole in my head...but darn they are adorable...and I could use a warm fuzzy thing to hold about now :)
