Such great characters they were. And just beautiful chickens.I miss my screaming harpies. Ha'Penny will never be a lap chicken but she has calmed down a lot.

Only Phyllis has messed with them so far and that was only the one time I saw her try to sleep in the box with Glynda. Knock on wood the others aren't messing with them much at all.My experience: depends upon the hen. If she's determined, then most definitely yes...and even longer. If she doesn't have eggs (or has something to sit on) and sits for the 21 days, easy to break just by putting on roost and removing eggs (or substitutes). If she's DETERMINED THANK YOU VERY MUCH, then breaking at 21 days won't work.
That said, with fertile eggs under them, very likely. It also depends upon how much those above them in rank are determined to add THEIR egg to the nest. Those sorts of spats can break eggs and discourage the broody.
Those are the correct numbers.I was wondering if they had shown uphopefully tomorrow morning they will show up.
Can you refresh my memory on how many your ordered?
Polish - 6 (plus one extra)
- 5 to hatch would be 70%
Orpington- 4
- 3 to hatch would be 75%
Those would be great percentages
I am very eggcited for you!
What a little brat. And then there were 2.
Adele, Betty's chick is going to be trouble. Barely out of the egg and already pulling her siblings feathers.

My old princess is out the back today. She's had her run cleaning done all heris gone but the weather here isn't to good. It's been grey sky a chilly wind and rain is due. The two stray cats have been fed and my puss and dog is hiding under a blanket.
My old dog has started having paracetamol now. He's getting worse, the lovely veterinary nurse suggested he should take a paracetamol every eight hours. But I'm keeping them lower for now so they still help him later on
I really must look up other pain killers he can take as his pain increases![]()
Yes. It's like they take little breaks to build up energy and then push some more.Amazing. Hatching is such hard work!
