My apologies for asking the impossible. I truly understand.Bubba is 3. Surgery is not a option, my vet will not do it. He will see chickens for minor problems, but if anesthesia is required he is not set up for it for birds. I would have to take him at least 3 hours away to a avian specialist. I love Bubba, and I will do anything for him if possible. A 700+ vet bill is not possible right now. I also had not heard of closed bumblefoot. He told me in his opinion he picked up a infection that traveled to his feet and settled there. Especially since it is both feet in the same spot.
Mine are still holding fast - the brats!Mera roosted this evening. Not going to count successful until 3 consecutive days
Beautiful BernieHave a good Monday everyone. Bernie posed for a mugshot. We have spent a lot of time together over the last few days. She consoled me over the loss of Babs. Not sure if I helped her, but she did hang out with me a bit.

Mugs MondayPrincess laid another egg this morning but she was on the coop run perch and it broke. I hope that the reason is where it dropped that ir broke.
I've given her egg white with her meal this morning, as advised in the emergency thread when her shell was soft, just as a precaution.

That makes me very sad. I wish you can stay home and earn what you need.I am so happy my horse vet is just 4km up the road, he has beeen my vet for about 40yrs, he is semi retired but still will treat my old gals. I am hoping he will be around when the time comes for them to be put down, he was there for their birth.
And he is really good about trying stuff with my chooks. I do have a small animal vet who will see my chooks but she is very expensive. I do have a ‘$700 chicken’ here who just looks pretty most of the time.
Oh well what can you do, you have the responsibility so you must follow through with whatever is required.
Just to euthanize my wee 1 week old spraddle leg chick was almost $200 - I cried for more than the chick that night. I cried because I need to get back to working in the oil patch we’re I can make better money. While I love my job here and love being home each night, I need more secure pay. Everything is so expensive and that one chick finally made me realize I needed to go back out west.
