Hahaha my long distance riding days are long over! 20 min and I am ready to get off. Poor knees and hips.

My little ones, are now free ranging the property. They stay in their own group, but sometimes mingle with the older hens.
I have Xzit inside the house again. She seems weaker than yesterday.

Tuesday two-fer

The two silkie chicks and the four replacement chicks.

I don’t think I will have an issue rehoming those 4 chicks when they are older, they will be very lovely pullets.

The two are Americanas and the grey ones are Sapphire Gems.

And two original girls.

Just keep hauling her off the nest and feeding her. That’s what I do.

Oh those silkies. They are now officially in the stage only a mother could love and stuck their toes in a light socket. Come on alex, I love silkies, but when they look like that, calling them names is forgiven. They are so ugly they are pretty at this point.

I am continuing to make sure I handle them to keep them friendly - the smaller one is still the friendliest one, I guess because of all the handling she had when I had her here with the spraddle legged chick.

Big day for the chickadoo's. First time they experienced a complete change of the brooder bedding. I have been skimming the surface and adding a touch-up. Today I emptied it completely. They were traumatized. Well, they acted like they were. Everything replaced new and fresh and what are they doing? It took them 30 seconds to start trashing it little hoodlums. I was able to catch them in the act of dustbathing for the first time. I took a few pictures before I turned back on their heat lamp. That is Reba/Barbosa dust bathing.
