Our beetles loved fruit trees. The fig tree we had was infested with them, not to mention squirrels and rats loved the sugary fruit so we tore it down.

Years later we planted only citrus which bugs and rodents seem to avoid -- lemon, grapefruit, and pomegranate trees -- no sweet soft fruits like peach, plum, apricot or berry bush/trees and no more beetles. The trees provide chicken shade and hiding.

If a Japanese happens to rarely stumble into the yard the Silkies do a Whirling Dervish in circles to catch the wayward beetle in flight! So far all hens avoid bees whether flying or dead on the ground.
Gosh I would love to be able to have citrus trees to grow, and bananas and mango 😊

But I console myself with the fact I do have peaches ♥️

I’m so sorry. I missed this reply. Wow, lots going on in your flock/tribe. The reproductive issues are so brutal and heartbreaking. Sounds like you’re doing a great job! I agree Benadryl is the way to go for reproductive issues. An avian vet tell me reproductive infections “laugh in the face of anything short of enrofoxacin”.

Baytril??
So which is it? Baytril or Benadryl and what do they do for reproductive issues? Inquiring minds need to know :)

Awesomeness, just pure cuteness. I am happy for all of you.
Hello everyone.
Trying to cope with this deadly heat right now, 120 degree highs killed two more of my hens, Sunfeather and Onyx. My fan malfunctioned yesterday sometime in the middle of the day yesterday and is still not working. I have to go outside every few minutes to mist down my chicken coop and water down the dustbathing holes.
Here is a video and some tax.

I want to post more tax but it won't upload. Maybe it will work better later
Oh my those temps are just brutal. I thought it had been hot here till you and @featherhead007 posted your temps. I hope the temperatures come down soon!

When our dog Freya is pesting in the kitchen, I sing,

"There's nothing happening here! What it ain't is exactly clear!"

Without looking it up, do you know the title of the song @featherhead007 and I are alluding to? Stephen Stills and Buffalo Springfield are the singer/writer and the group. I never knew what the title was until I was looking up the exact year it was released (1966).
I dunno, my Vietnam years are still a bit fuzzy to me. :lau :gig
(I’m kidding of course)

You seem to have many pomegranates. You can possibly afford to send me a few.

I owe tax, For What It's Worth.

Yeah, really, that's the name of the song. I never knew it either.
