Gosh I would love to be able to have citrus trees to grow, and bananas and mangoOur beetles loved fruit trees. The fig tree we had was infested with them, not to mention squirrels and rats loved the sugary fruit so we tore it down.
Years later we planted only citrus which bugs and rodents seem to avoid -- lemon, grapefruit, and pomegranate trees -- no sweet soft fruits like peach, plum, apricot or berry bush/trees and no more beetles. The trees provide chicken shade and hiding.

If a Japanese happens to rarely stumble into the yard the Silkies do a Whirling Dervish in circles to catch the wayward beetle in flight! So far all hens avoid bees whether flying or dead on the ground.

But I console myself with the fact I do have peaches
