Yes. Higher protein feed. And yes flying lessons.
I wasn’t thinking of raising poults. More like let this one join the coop gang as she so clearly wants to do.
I think she is lonely.
I would be fine with her coming and going as she wanted to. My guess is she would hang around until a big flock of turkeys came by and then she would probably go off with them.
I am thinking house guest.
She might not be around by the time I return, but it is sweet how she is hanging out by the window. My guess is Bernie was on the other side talking to her!
I love this idea of her and Bernie having tea together. Can you imagine the conversation they might have. Bernie complaining about broodies, Turkey talking about what it is like fly high up in trees to sleep.......

Thank you so much for giving him a chance. Truly it means a lot, at least to me.
I don't believe in god like you do but I do believe that sometimes we get the possibility to give a meaning to what seem like terrible events, like @bgmathteach so well said. I strongly believe anytime we take the opportunity of doing a good deed we do exactly that. You most of anyone on this thread don't need to prove that you are a good person and I'm sure you would have been heartbroken to put Randy down without giving him a try.
I didn't react because I felt so angry reading his story I would have said something useless and inappropriate, and I realise you may want to keep good relations with some of those people doing this. If you can't get them to stop, could you at least try talking them into using a hen for the show that you could then try to catch and integrate in your flock without taking such a gamble ?
I feel so bad thinking about what it teaches those kids 😔.

Wonderfully said.

If I remember correctly Sydney had them out on the porch on day 3. They really need wings before that happens as the lip to get out is significant. There is a ramp to get back into the coop from the porch. I have walled off the exit from the porch as the ramp is another big thing and I must be there to make certain they can navigate their way back up.

I remain stunned that Glynda, a hen that would not always use a nest to lay an egg, wound up being such a great broody. Not to mention what a good mum she has been so far. She is always on the move. Just look at her sitting down and being patient with the little ones. It is stunning to observe.
Honestly, I need my porch adjusted from time to time as well.

“Hello your Royal Majesty. I would like to present myself as a kindred spirit and as always, look to your infinite wisdom.
But I have a question?: if I eat Indian food, like spiced rice or curry, would that help me produce the magnificent beard that you possess? Signed your humble servant CeeCee the EE

Ps. I think that my human, is a very fair and loving human. I love him very deeply”

This seems very wise and if I haven't said it, I am very proud of Bert. I just knew that alone with Mr. Pompeii he would learn to do things the right way.
He is a good boy, and he doesn’t crow much - like his Dada he does some in the morning but that’s it. He doesn’t chase or harass anyone.

Can’t say the same for Mr LC; I am hoping the wee chicks get a bit bigger faster so they can thump Mr LC - he glories in chasing them. What a brat! When he knows I am around he doesn’t do it.

Smart that one, he will need to have a job soon.
