First stop after the dust bath, the Magnolia Tree!

And then they got to meet Auntie Aurora!

With 2 momma's finding food, those 2 will be butterballs in no time. I do feel bad when Glynda see Arowyn. She has went after her before correct? The poor girl is going to get a beating, and she will not see it coming. Glynda will let her have it for just existing around those chicks to make her first point across. Aurora may have decided motherhood is not for her, but she likes those chicks. This is sneaky to her though. HRH Auroroa has claimed she does not think of polish as real chickens. Yet here you go sneaking in a polish that she has accepted into the flock right under her beak. You know, as much trouble and grief she gave poor Phyllis, it would be Karma if the new one become her eventual BFF and minion.

I am and starting to think Randy is not going to work out. He was let loose yesterday morning because he would not shut up crowing while in the coop. The problem is Bubba. Bubba acts like he flat out hates him. He was persistent yesterday in charging him trying to run him off. Randy tends to back away but once he did engage in a fight. It was again short, and again he lost. Bubba exerted himself so much that last night when he went on the roost his comb was turning purple. I can't have this. Bubba has to be my first priority. If it does not improve today and I am going outside and watching, and so far it has not, then I will place Randy. If Bubba keeps this up he will kill himself in a few days by bringing on a heart attack.

I'm not surprised BRs and Doms are similar. BRs were bred from Dominiques (The American Dominique: A Treatise for the Fancier by Mark Fields). We went with Doms to keep the original Pilgrim breed and size and to keep the self-sustaining broodiness of Doms. Plus we have a personal preference for rose comb birds or walnut, pea comb, or no comb breeds.

If BRs have good calm temperaments it's a trait inherited from their Dom ancestry :love
Sydney has one as well.

Glynda has beaten up Éowyn many times. Lady Featherington put a scary beating on her when she was off the nest but broody. I was actually worried about Éowyn's eyes that time. I have not let Éowyn out today because the littles are out and about. I want to be there for any initial reactions. Éowyn is like a caged lion right now. Pacing the door wanting out.

Yes, I have done it to Aurora again. Hopefully she accepts this new lady better than Phyllis. Certainly this girl will understand her place in things from the get go.

I'm so sorry they can't reach an accommodation. Randy is just not of your flock. I guess Bubba needs to raise his replacement. 😥

This must be a huge task to have to bear. I really hope you can get through this Kelly. :hugs
Well no option but to fix it. When you own a house and outbuildings you need to maintain them.

Realistically the barn has been around a long time so it is due for some maintenance.
Oh my goodness Kelly, that is a lot to deal with on top of everything else!
Good luck this weekend.
I really can’t complain too much. The barn hasn’t given me any trouble for years, but it’s now getting to that age where it is starting to need some maintenance.

My BIL just spent last weekend at their friends place putting a new roof on their friends house.

I told BIL ‘hey you have experience now, you’ll know what to do with the barn roof’

Hahaha poor guy 🤭

PepperLarry is such a nice chick, I am very glad I bought her, I do have a thing for stripes and wattles 😊
Hopefully she gets some when she is grown
