Time to Explore the Wider World

This is a big deal because getting back in can be quite an issue. I'm going to have to watch them all day now for the next several days until they get returning to the coop down. I believe it took Sydney's crew 3 days to get the hang of it.

The mums went right under to coop to dustbathe.
Hahaha I loved how that Polish launched herself off the ramp top - her sister enjoyed a slide ride down. 🥰

Time to Explore

First stop after the dust bath, the Magnolia Tree!

And then they got to meet Auntie Aurora!

Wow if that had been my broodies there would be a brawl! They never want any other chooks near their babies. The silkies esp are always picking fights when their babies are out and about.

Auntie Queen Aurora was good with them.

Aurora has always been good with chicks and pullets. I was not surprised.

So yesterday I explained to hubby why I was looking at hatching eggs, I'm afraid Morinth will kill herself going broody and raising a clutch might just reset her completely. He told me to find an incubator just in case the silkies reject eggs. 🥹

He also said maybe it's a good learning experience for the toddler (And the rest of us, we've never hatched before)
My neighbor said if I get an extra roo from my hatch he'd love to barter for him, his rooster has a couple generations of daughters and he's probably near the inbreeding point? We didn't know how many generations can line breed.

I am and starting to think Randy is not going to work out. He was let loose yesterday morning because he would not shut up crowing while in the coop. The problem is Bubba. Bubba acts like he flat out hates him. He was persistent yesterday in charging him trying to run him off. Randy tends to back away but once he did engage in a fight. It was again short, and again he lost. Bubba exerted himself so much that last night when he went on the roost his comb was turning purple. I can't have this. Bubba has to be my first priority. If it does not improve today and I am going outside and watching, and so far it has not, then I will place Randy. If Bubba keeps this up he will kill himself in a few days by bringing on a heart attack.
Poor silly Bubba 😢

I sure hope he settles down for all their sakes.
