Oh for Pete’s sake….

I unplugged the shop light so Mr LC couldn’t roost on the power cable.

No problem he said, I’ll just roost in the rafters. Sheesh! So I left him there. This is the beam that supports the loft floor. Runs over top the doorway to the Summer house - he can stay there till morning.

At least he won’t be laying eggs up there like Eli and Babs did up on my rafters!

Attack! Get the Human!

The mums are trying to get the chicks to follow them up the ramp and into the coop. As usual, it is not going well.

I have already been attacked by 3 hens today for trying to help the littles navigate the "fences" created by the coop complex. I expect I'm in for another flogging till this is done and they are back in the coop.

That's right, I said 3 hens. Two momma's and.....

That's right, Sydney.

Syd has been behaving a little differently these days. I caught her on one of the footstools crowing a couple of days ago. Maybe she is our new "rooster" and decided I needed a lesson.
I want to see her crow.

I sure hope that sapphire gem isn't barred...they're another autosexing breed.

Gave them all of today's eggs as well as the decoys. If they are still lovely nesting mamas in the morning they will be getting eggs.

Here's the new coop all set up. I'll say it seems nicer put all the way together, it did not seem very strong when assembling. I put hardware cloth in the drainage corners because they were like 2" triangles!!!

Also my husband told her "yeah, we'll take all of them. And we'll look at chicks too."
He's the one falling for chicken math!!! Good thing my neighbor brought his incubator over and said he'd love an extra roo from the hatch.
Sounds like your husband is a keeper!

2 pullet eggs tonight.

Still not sure who's laying, however, Kate is checking out nest boxes....at roost time....

You'd better get those roosts up this weekend! And completely BLOCK access to anything you don't want him in....maybe hardware cloth the ceiling....
Well the ceiling has to wait I have more pressing issues with the barn roof and feedroom ceiling.

He can’t get out and nothing can get on. That’s were Tippy likes to get up and try to lay an egg in the space up there. I just don’t want it filled with eggs or poop!
