@Ponypoor -- are Lulu and Truly twins? THREE horses! One is expensive to board down here and its rare to even see one anymore on the provided trails.
Lulu and Truly are not sisters, and they are different breeds. They were both born here, Truly was born 26th of May, Lulu the 5th of June so they grew up together.

Lulu is an Appaloosa Pony-of-the-Americas. She was born dark brown and turned white when she shed her winter coat as a yearling. She is a ‘snow cap Appaloosa’.

Truly is an Arabian she also was born dark, and over the years as all grey horses do, has turned white.

Reenie (the dark bay mare) is a thoroughbred who was born in Kentucky, she was brought up here to Ontario, went through a sale, the person who bought her and a bunch of other thoroughbreds couldn’t afford to feed them. The SPCA confiscated the horses and rehomed them. I got Reenie, she was so thin when I got her she could hardly walk, her hair coat was all mangy and gruesome. I didn’t expect her to live. And it was February so I had to put a good blanket on her to keep her warm.

Then Spring came, the grass came up, the sun was warm and she shed out all her grimy hair coat and got her glorious bay coloured hair in. And she put on weight and by the end of summer she was beautiful and sassy.

They are all old girls now, who don’t really do much.

They definitely show good care now. A couple equine boarding places down here have also had confiscated animals. People just don't research or understand the expense or years of commitment in having a horse (or ANY pet)!

A pair of our old English Budgerigars years before we had chickens. These budgies had an open cage to go in and out at will.

We are bird lovers and have also had Amazons, cockatiels, American parakeets, etc, and now chickens :). No birds we owned were kept caged -- indoors or outdoors birds.
