I did wonder about that! I know lavender is very light and thought perhaps it was the lighting and/or chick fuzz.

Also, now that I see a close up. Compare the rounded tail on baby Hattie vs the new sweet baby. I am wondering if she is a Orpington or not. I would think she would have more rounded tail feathers like Hattie if she was. time will tell.

White Orps are stunning though if she does turn out to be one!

I was not aware they came in white! How lovely that would be!

Not Very Observant.

Ok, now I think I'm pretty good with chickens. I pay attention to them, watch them closely, understand what they are doing and how they work together.

I also think that everyone on this thread is pretty observant as well. However, I have missed something very vital and none of you all have noticed it either. I know I'm ashamed and thinking of turning in my chicken keeper card.

Can any of you figure out what is wrong with Aster? It is fundamental.

Aster is NOT a Lavender Orpington!

This is a Lavender Orpington. This is none other than Hattie at 4 weeks. Aster is 3 weeks old.

No, I have no idea what kind of chicken she is. I purchased Lavender Orpington eggs. I clearly did not get Lavender Orpington eggs.

I have been so caught up in the excitement of having chicks that i did not think of this until Mrs BY Bob sent me this photo of her singing to Hattie from 6 years ago today.

I was wondering, but again didn’t want to say anything, with Laverne here I was wondering that maybe she was just a paler colour than Laverne.

Well I wonder what she will turn out like - now I am super curious! She sure is a beautiful chick whatever she is!

At least she has a tail!
