Well, cross off all Marans varieties and silkie for her as a possibility. Really on that list I would say leghorn, but she is not a leghorn. Orpingtons do come in splash. Is there any chance you could get splash from a lavender breeding? She is pretty but I am so sorry there was a mix up. I hope they make it right for you. You should get what you ordered.
I've never seen a splash orpington. I need to research that.

I need to be barred from facebook for a few weeks. It is that time of year, my local poultry and livestock groups are listing their excess roosters. This morning 4 new adds pop up. All with to me gorgeous silkie cockerels. Between the adds there are white boys, black boys, a red boy and some poppet colored boys. I may be sorely tempted on one or two of them but no I must wait. Before I go silkie cockerel shopping I need to be certain I do not have a Branch son. I really think I do, but the waiting game is killing me.

Wait...and Aster has 1 black feather.....splash....yellow legs so NOT orpington, sussex, australorp, marans... the yellow legs: leghorns (not sure on some of the hybrids like california whites), wyandotte, Plymouth rocks, Jersey giants, Rhode Islands (there's whites there too)...hmmmm....
Azur Blues: mine are splash with a couple dark feathers, yellow legs two toned beaks (not sure as chicks what they have) - but they have the leghorn comb and wattles.

I Can Fly!!

This is not very orpington-like at all. Aster flew up about 5 feet looking for a spot to roost in the magnolia tree. This is her descent.

She did stick the landing.

Oh gosh! She’s a leghorn! Or Azur Blue like hybrid I bet! Hmmmm wait her egg was white right? Ok so not Azur. Darn! But maybe a leghorn cross ♥️

Bob you’re destined to have lovely white hens it seems!

It's so hot today. Princess has had a lot of cold water melon and is hiding under the shade out the back now. I let her out the front until the sun became to much

I ate my breakfast outside this morning too have a little peace from my dog. Princess jumped up and snatched the top off my sandwich and ran off with it. Me and the cat were so shocked all we could do was watch her 🙄

Those old girls are sneaky! They make you think they are slow and creaky, then ‘bam!’ The run in, jump up, steal your meal and run off with it! Sneaky I tell you!

She came from a brown egg. I got them from a breeder I had never worked with before. Scarborough Farms. I checked today and they currently offer:
  1. French Black Tail Red Maran
  2. Assorted French Marans
  3. Black Copper Maran
  4. Silkies
  5. Rhode Island Red
  6. Dominique
  7. White Leghorn
  8. Easter Egger
♥️ Easter egger maybe??? As leghorns don’t have dark spots. Or leghorn x EE. Oooo you could get green eggs! Nice!

I didn't get 2fer pics but BOTH silkies were on one nest with two eggs each, leaving one nest uncovered. I cussed and moved them back to their proper nests. Also Ash and Kasumi trashed the broody coop while they were off nests, so I'm going to lock them in I guess. Dang rude birds.
