I hear ya 🤨 girl boy girl boy…..
I want a boy, wanted one from the start. I think I do have one but oh silkies are so tricky, especially when they are only 5 1/2 weeks old. If only it were easy to sneak chicks across the border. If I ended up with all girls and Clyde ends up being a boy perfect solution. I take clyde and you get one of Branch and Poppets daughters. Except Reba and the black chick who I've been calling Tina.

I didn't get 2fer pics but BOTH silkies were on one nest with two eggs each, leaving one nest uncovered. I cussed and moved them back to their proper nests. Also Ash and Kasumi trashed the broody coop while they were off nests, so I'm going to lock them in I guess. Dang rude birds.

It’s so warm I think you will be ok.

But, I would block the ladies in their own nest if possible, so they can’t get moving around back and forth.

With Henny I had her in her nest box with a small area in front of her nest box for her to move about in. And it’s a good safe place for baby chicks to go.

The other crazy birds couldn’t get in there to bother her, or her chicks. Because we all know how jealous those crazy birds are!!

Hahaha we’ll talk.. 😆😆😆😆

Some tape on their beaks to keep them quiet, shove them under the seat. Hahaha just kidding - poor babies!

But yep it would be a great solution for sure. And Clyde is such a big cuddly suck!

My big worry now is Shirley/Shorty.

Yesterday Mr P ran up behind him/her as if to mount him/her 😳 but he stopped when She/he moved away.

What does that mean 😳 ?! Is he a she? Or what? Shouldn’t the little fart be starting to crow if a boy??

He/she is 9 weeks old now.

The first batch is 14 weeks old. The OEGB are 12 weeks old.

Yep I have food, water, and a dish of henhouse reserve in their coop and the door closed. They'll have to manage without dust bathing for a couple days..there were grey feathers from Kasumi and Ash that the momma hens must have pulled out. Serves them right, little buttheads.
I moved Samara onto the eggs and she immediately checked on them, and did some tiny chirps to the chicks inside. I'm tempted to remove the divider and give them a big nest but I don't think it's a good idea this late in the game.

OBGYN, they are girls probably :idunno :gig

I need to be barred from facebook for a few weeks. It is that time of year, my local poultry and livestock groups are listing their excess roosters. This morning 4 new adds pop up. All with to me gorgeous silkie cockerels. Between the adds there are white boys, black boys, a red boy and some poppet colored boys. I may be sorely tempted on one or two of them but no I must wait. Before I go silkie cockerel shopping I need to be certain I do not have a Branch son. I really think I do, but the waiting game is killing me.
Well bless your rooster loving heart ❤️ !

I give you this for 2 for Tuesday.

Those 2 pictures will become special to me. I have a sad update on my boy Bubba. I promised him I would not let him suffer, and he has started to decline again. Yesterday evening he let me hold him and unfortunately the redness is now going up his legs. It is hard to spot due to the leg feathering but it is streaking up, puffy and now there is heat in his legs and the sores on his feet. He was not as active yesterday and today so far he is resting a lot as well. I am going to spoil him, he already got handfed a bunch of sunflower seeds which thankfully he ate some of them instead of trying to give them all to the girls. Later I have a can of tuna for him, he is going to get all his favorite treats. It may not happen tonight, but definitely in the next few days. I am watching him very closely, he will tell me when it is time.

Those old girls are sneaky! They make you think they are slow and creaky, then ‘bam!’ The run in, jump up, steal your meal and run off with it! Sneaky I tell you!
My chooks know what I bring home for lunch. They can take notice of a Subway sandwich wrapper from across the property. Then with lightning speed they line up to get some.
