I will probably not be on for the rest of the day. I have to go outside and dig a grave for Bubba. I am going to bury him under the Mimosa tree beside Gracie. My boys foot has busted open and it is time. I know what I have to do, and I have done it once before. It does not make it any easier. Thank you my dear boy for being a true gentleman of a Rooster. I have treasured our 3 years together. I wish we had more time but I promise you, your girls will be ok.

Gather up the babies for a big hug, too.

Retreated defeated
The temperature dropped a little so I set out to mend the step inside the Chicken Palace.
I had forgotten a few things. 90% humidity makes even 85 degrees pretty unbearable and mosquitoes.
I have made a start but i couldn't bear to be outside any more. I am bitten all over and so sweaty I didn't even notice it was raining when I came outside of the Chicken Palace.
Feels like another ice-cream day.

Tax: Pooh is looking a bit disheveled. Maybe starting to molt? Maybe just a bad hair day in the humidity.

I wouldn't be surprised. Hector, and Storm have started, and I think Twirp is too...at least she's got a feather curling outward

They are totally fine. The step is for me!
The Chicken Palace is on a steep slope and I need two steps to get between the house and the run.
One step is fine but the other has been destroyed. It is just concrete blocks filled in with dirt. So at the moment I am balancing on one edge of a block.
I need to level the ground and reset the blocks. I made progress. I will do a little more tomorrow. But by bit.
Bug spray will help.

Wise advice.

Be careful, I would hate to hear you were injured, do you have anyone who can assist you?

I sure wish poor Mr P would hurry up and grow in his feathers, it’s just as well I have him separate from the rest of the gang; those young hens keep picking at his tail feathers- and they bleed like crazy.

Even if Bert were to get rehomed tomorrow, I would have to keep him separated from them until he is finished moulting.
