I just brought a knife to a gun fight.
Gardening gloves were totally inadequate.
And how does she manage to peck my left and right hands simultaneously?
Tomorrow I need to break out the long leather gauntlets.
Meanwhile, I have beaten a tactical retreat to the safety of the garage.
I know how she is doing all that. You need to inspect the nests and the entire coop for any of these bottles:

You also need to ensure there are no hidden devices to access Beakbook throughout the coop, as they can always just re-order some. Sometimes they also leave the bottle in its box. Hens get very creative with hiding their stash of Batty ol' Hen's.

I barely escaped with all my digits just getting one egg out from under her. No chance I will be able to do a thorough search of the nest.

Wait until it's dark. Then sneak up, grab her, and plop her on the ground as fast as possible before she has a chance to think, let alone grab a dose of Batty ol' Hen's.

If they are like mine, they will finish off the leaves, stems and fruit, and just leave the stalks 😁 brats! I do t botjer with a garden anymore at the barn.
We leave the stalks up for a while cuz the hens play, hide, and snooze under them. By Nov-Dec we easily pull out the rotted stalks in preparation for a new planting season.

Meanwhile all the chicken poops fertilize the soil and they keep the dirt loose w/ their scratching. In Spring when we compost and dig the beds we have all chickens crowding around to get at the grubs, worms, and insects!

I love gardening w/ chickens but we only have 6 birds to get in the way!

Just when I thought it was safe to dismantle the broody jail.....
CALYPSO!!!
And she is a broody like none of the others. She is terrifying! Piglet was pecky, but nothing like this. I will have to get body armor to remove her from the nest.
I only opened the door to take a quick look and was met by savage pecking that drew blood. I beat a hasty retreat so no pictures yet.
Unbelievable. Cute, mild-mannered Calypso is the devil himself come to earth.
I am sorry, but I desperately need a good laugh and Calypso has delivered. Oh she sounds like my old Momma Hen. I am down in the dumps missing some dear flock members right now. I never thought I would say this but, I miss a good broody fight. I have broodies I am in the process of breaking. Poppet is the worst and she tries to be evil incarnate but she is just to little so all I do is chuckle at her. Can I borrow Calypso for a few weeks? I feel one good round with a psycho broody hen will satisfy me until next year.

Glad you got a laugh and that Calypso managed to cheer you up a little from missing your friends.
I think old Momma Hen may have been reincarnated in Calypso. For sure she is possessed!
Piglet is tiny - so although she was fierce it is a bit like Poppet - she just isn't big enough to do damage. But Calypso is a worthy battle opponent!
I have a lot of stuff to do away from home on Monday and Tuesday, so I am thinking I will leave her be for a few days, and then 'suit up' (Kevlar feels like it might be helpful) and put her in the broody jail on Tuesday evening.
