Rosario…

Well not a good meeting for him with Mr P who promptly flew at him and tried to kill him. It’s a good thing Rosario is tame, I caught hold of him and closed off the pen to Mr P. Then I close Bert in the summer house and put Rosario with the main gang.

Mr Little Chicken took over from where Mr P left of - but Rosario now faught back rather than running blindly into things trying to escape. Guess he figured Mr LC would be easier to cope with. The two of them wouldn’t stop so I had to grab up Mr LC and chuck him in with Mr P.

Then Little Grey had a run at him and poor dude is just terrified! I again caught hold of him and gave him some snuggles, and walked around the yard to show him the perimeter fencing- then placed him down with my oldest chicklets who are his age.

Right now he is trying to woo them. View attachment 3915888

So I need to get him a new home sooooon.

Little Grey once again took him on but he just won that round, she went one way he went another way.

Everyone is all riled up 😞 and you know how much I love drama 😢

Edit- I have Bert out there now I am watching to see what happens .
You need to introduce them slowly. Especially an 'interloping male.' Even if you feel you don't need to quarantine, they do still need a maybe a week of 'fenced off but can see each other' to get to know one another - the whole flock with Rosario. Then integrate and watch (there will still be kerfuffles, but maybe not as bad as when he is just put in with them with no introduction.)

Well, Bert goes after him, and Rosario runs away. He got into it with Sharpie and Bert came over and chased Rosario away and herded Sharpie back with him.

Bert unlike Mr P doesn’t chase after him when he runs him off. I am thinking this has a lot to do with him and Mr P fighting; Mr P puts the rum on him but Bert stands his ground and Mr P keeps at it.

At any rate I am now really freaked out about Mr LC who is just beside himself wanting to get out there.

And worst of all is, Clyde got scraping with Rosario, gawd! Clyde backed down and ran away but holy Dinah, I guess I need to accept that Clyde is a he.

So, who to get rid of? Mr LC? In which case I guess Mrs LC will also need to go with him.

Or Clyde who is my other sweetie pie. Maybe he won’t be so prone to fight with Mr P being a silkie….

Gosh I hate having roosters around 😞

I don't have a camera, but it's a good idea. I might be able to borrow one from some of the neighbours who hunt.

She could have squeezed through the mesh that's on the top, but definitely not on the side, and I don't see how she could reach the top mesh from the inside !

I'm a bit worried to leave her again in the crate though in case she hurts herself trying to get out again.
Wow - another determined one!

I have seen my ladies squeeze through the barn door when it’s only a few inches they can be fairly flexible.

I hear you on them maybe hurting themselves, they get so upset they just do silly things. Maybe put a blanket over the top of the crate to stop her from trying to get out that way.

I think you should keep Mr. & Mrs. Little Chicken. I am still convinced that once he understands he can't take on any other roosters he will escape upwards and be fine.

Garlic should be in sparse use for chickens. However onions are as toxic to chickens as it is to dogs and not even onion salt or onion powder should be used on chicken or dog treats.

A lady in India who loved her chickens couldn't understand why her chickens were ill ~ she was feeding them lots of garlic and onions! I'm surprised she didn't throw curry into the mix too, poor thing and poor chickens!
I didn't know about onion. I thought it was fine in small amounts! This is good info thanks! I usually Google everything before I give it to them. Good thing. I was going to toss some left over chocolate Kashi cereal to them the other day. Apparently chocolate is a huge no-no!
I’m getting all these happy birthday wishes from everyone. Truth be told, this day has always been the worst day of my life. Every year something happens to spoil my peace and happiness.
I just hope that it’s not too catastrophic this time.
The stories I could tell you! :he:barnie
There was a time I was not able to remember not crying on my birthday. I hope this birthday is filled with peace and comfort.
My favorite cows are the ones in someone else's pasture! Great pictures!
Mine are ones in my freezer. Or those little Scottish hobbit cows. I love them so much!

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. We're lazy weekend folks. Hubby is making brunch, then it's off to the coop project again.

Happy pony sunday
