Holding Coco as she purrs, just loving life in daddy’s arms. I am tying to figure out why she didn’t lay yesterday. All seems good with her body (by touch) maybe today is the day.

I let everyone out an hour early today. The sunrise is changing and waking up the roosters earlier than before. So yah, I got out of bed and went to open the coop. I did have some quality time with Coco this morning!

Those are most of my plants and flowers.
I'm growing 2 greenhouses, 4 gardens, and one flower bed this year. Obviously I don't eat that much, I'm selling it through a local farmer's store. See which flowers you can identify!
The harvest season is very busy for me. I'm already starting - in the first picture you can see my zucchini is exploding (back of the garden) and I'm dehydrating it. I also went berry picking a few weeks back and churned out strawberry, blueberry, and strawberry-rhubarb jam(and canned it). Then I froze some saskatoon and honey berries. I pickled some beets too, it's a good year for them here except for some are bolting because of the heat wave and they become rabbit food.
I may be going offline soon because I have a whole lot of preserving coming along. And my turnips are bigger than my fist.
My computer got fixed. I was puzzled when my computer kept restarting itself in the middle of OS installation, and then I realized... It's out of power! So I plugged it in, and lo and behold I had two operating systems on my computer!

I don't know how old your cute Coco is. Chickens lay 20% less eggs each year of their life. Plus the frequency lessens each year also.
Our Dana in her last year of laying (when she was 6) layed a couple eggs, then it was 2 weeks later she layed one egg, and that was it for the year. She never was a prolific egg-layer and eggs only about the size of Silkie eggs so we never expected much from her. Prolific egg-layers die too early so we don't mind having slower laying birds w/longer lifespans .

Ahhhh! Paradise! I'm so jealous teehee! Gorgeous! TY for sharing. I was young once & did your things ~ do enjoy your gardens & chickens to have these wonderful memories for later

I never thought that my Coco would slow down laying eggs. But if anyone deserves to take a break, it’s her!

Just beautiful! I'm a person who wants a beautiful garden with lots of veggies and flowers trapped in the body of a lazy old woman.

I used to live in the city and grew my own tiny garden. It consisted of two raised garden beds. It didn't do much for me, but when I moved out into the country and started growing stuff, it became most of what I eat!
The flowers are mostly for the bees, although the wasps like them too.

There are a number of elderly people in my community that have gardens. You could still grow a small garden.
