Maybe. But if I try to pull them up the back part of the house might fall since all the roots are now going under the house!

I'm going to try and trim them this year and hopefully next year they will give more.
There are plenty of videos on trimming fruit trees out there. There are specific ways of trimming each type.

You would very surprised at how much you will need to trim. And when you do they will likely fruit.

But prune them in the winter when they go dormant. I would say January for you.

The trick is the open the centre of the tree up to allow sunlight into the branches.

Good luck!

I always buy at the end of the season when they are on sale. If you pick well and store well, they will keep for a month or two (not sugar pumpkins, but the field pumpkins) even buying them that late in the season. I sometimes get a few for free from teh local farm stand down the road when they close for the season in late October if they have any left. A pig farmer takes most of them, but they generally don't take all the little field pumpkins, nor the gourds...and certain of the gourds have eatable flesh in them.

I will have to get a picture - I think that is what sprung up practically overnight in my compost pile, and has now taken over! IT has leaves like the squash family, but white flowers...so I'm guessing a gourd....not sure if it will have time to set and grow a bunch before a frost - but am hoping that whatever it is, it does produce some edible (for the chooks at least) fruit!
They grow pumpkins here so they are fairly reasonable. Acres and Acres of them 👍

I might approach some farmers to pick over the field for the ones they don’t harvest, stockpile some for the chooks.

I’m disappointed ☹️ the people that I was to meet at the airport are doing something else tomorrow. I don’t want to get a cab or Uber, then rent a car just for one day. It’s not worth the hassle.
Well that’s too bad! Hopefully something come up so you can get to the beach 👍

Anybody want a really troublesome redheaded RIR.
She would not leave me alone until I took her inside out of the heat. Then she threw her feed all over the place. Made a huge mess of it. I think she does this on purpose to get me mad. Or get a rise out of me in the least. :th
Nope, some girls are just that way. Scratch feed (gotta work for their food, you know), and flick it with their beaks. All part of the chicken-ness. You need to put their food and water dish in a better thing. Instead of that mat like what is used for dog food dishes to set on, do something like a boot tray and put it in that - will help keep most of the errant feed contained.

I want to use a boot on her right now. She flew up to the perch and pointed her butt at me. Then she let loose a soft one, all over my desktop. Covering my inhaler meds and my EarPod case. She hates me I know it! Time to sterilize my equipment 🤮

:rolleyes:What, pray tell, are all those things doing UNDER their perch??? Of course they would get pooped on in that spot!

And, of course they will poop after eating...some goes in, something must come out - the law of finite spaces!!!!:p
