We stopped decorating too even though we are in a suburb. People stopped going trick or treat w/their kids around here. Churches or lodges are about the only locations having "safe" festivals or homes having private costume parties.
I need to see some tax payments for all this decorating talk.

I find the lack of trick or treating houses around us greatly depressing. Everyone used to give out treats. Now there are only 3-4 houses in our street that do.

So you get the wood the Forest Service cuts for free? (I mean, for the work of hauling it)? Or is that your wood to begin with, and they're felling it to keep the fire load down?

Potatoes are not an unhealthy food, in and of themselves. It's all the stuff we load them up with, especially fats and salt. They soak up fats like a sponge, and there are good and bad choices when it comes to fats.
That's made me happy 😊
I really enjoy them mashed with onions and various vegetables 😋

You have to get a permit to cut wood, but it's on public land. Since covid, the permits are free. Used to be $20 and allowed you to get up to 8 cords.

Usually it's can only take dead trees. When they cut stuff, then anything cut. They're going to burn those once winter hits.
With the taxes they keep adding to our already inflated tax structure, I wouldn’t be surprised if they start taxing us for sawing wood! 💤

My homestead is still kind of under development and with this many gardens and chickens, I don't always have time for wood cutting. I still need it so it sometimes results in running around in -40 (celsius- it's the same as Fahrenheit) and getting my nose frozen off. It's all part of life I guess
How are your poultry protected in winter? pictures?
