Those look like Whisky Jacks (Grey Jays) but they are a northern country bird so I am not sure if they would be down your way. I see them here only in the winter.

They are super friendly and learn fast to ‘train’ us Hoomans to feed them.

The AOS voted to change the name of Grey Jay to Canada Jay.

As for birds being seen outside their normal habitat ~ fires can force birds into other regions. Black Phoebe is generally a mountain bird but mountain fires forced this little Phoebe into our neighborhood for a few years. He wouldn't eat the chicken feed but would swoop down to catch rolling pomegranate seeds tossed to the chickens!

Give me a stack of pavers and a barrow full of cement, and I’ll build a castle 🏰

Artemisinin
I'm seriously hoping on this little treatment
Here is a picture of the version that grows in the Chicken Palace. And a few posts later @GregnLety shared how Letty cooks it with beans for the two of them.
I have been using it like a leafy green veggie in various dishes.

Here is what I found on Artemesia vulgaris.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7583039/

Enough to make me give it a go in salad.

I confirmed it has the artemesia fur on its leaves - very fine and soft. I also confirmed the strong and rather pleasing smell when you crush the leaves.
It is described as tasting spicy - I tried a leaf and thought it rather mild. But I think Babs may be trying to grow her beard following Aurora’s advice to eat spicy food!

Artemesia and tax:

I wonder who thought, “that plant looks delicious, let’s eat it!”
