I have started to use this site as my ‘calendar’ of sorts! Very handy.

Thank you. Yes I set her that afternoon. Ok so then day 21 will be the 10th. If my broody girls have taught me anything I will start looking for possible hatching on the 8th.

Pip is still with us, and seems to be doing well, based on her running around and being interested in everything. But.

She is SKINNY! I didn't realize how thin she had gotten until the other day. When she'd sit on my lap, I could stroke her side very gently, but touching her chest area would make her get up and jump down, so I avoided that area.

Since she started molting, I'm even more hesitant to touch her. Then I realized how skinny she looked, so I felt her chest the next time she was on my lap.

I also saw her poop out a white creamy poop, and have read that that is an indication of worms. I have seen roundworms in a couple of poops over the past weeks, but wasn't sure who they belonged to.

Yesterday, I got some Ivermectin pour on, and put 3-4 drops on the back of her neck.

At least I aimed for the back of her neck. She moved right at the last second, and it may have ended up on her feathers, or on the spikes of incoming feathers. What I've read is retreat in 14 days, and to be VERY careful not to overdose. So I'm going to wait 2 weeks before treating again.

I checked the poop where I think she roosted, and didn't see any worms. I'll keep checking.

I'd appreciate any input.

I recently treated my flock with valbazen dewormer. Roundworms were found in two poops. Their poop have been a lot better since the treatment.

I have been doing mine every few months since my vet suggested worming them with Panacur. She told me round worms can get into eggs (which I already knew), and that it’s something I did not want to see

So far I have wormed them twice now.

There is no way to be sure. It's manufactured for cats and dogs (not the same dosage) and one of the effect of using it on birds is that the time it lasts is completely unpredictable. Anywhere from two months to nine I've heard, and sometimes it doesn't work at all.
@lightm got one for Light quite ahead of me, so she'll have more insight.

Also, it's not cheap here but still affordable, it's a lot more expensive and difficult to get over the Atlantic I'm afraid.

Light has her implant for about two months now and she seems to be doing well.

It seems that the ones offered in the US are all about $280 a dose. It is not clear how long it last on a regular sized hen. Our vet says not too long (maybe 3 months) because chickens have fast metabolism.

However, I am not too worried about when the implant wears off. A lot of times, a long break from laying is all a hen needs! The production birds just don't have enough laying breaks.

This is true. And good to know it’s out there, if I need to give to Butterscotch I am sure my horse vet can get it for me.

She and Petunia have an issue with soft and brittle eggs. I keep hoping they will mount and reset their factory!

ALL of those (from mid July) pics were portrait rather than landscape. I spent the last couple of weeks of August TRYING to get good landscape pics.... (no blurs)
