Mineral Sunday

as promised....

Last weekend Mrs. BY Bob and I took a vacation to New England. We stopped off in the Maine mineral museum. Mrs BY Bob is obsessed with gem stones and they mine a lot of them in Maine. Little did we know that the museum has the largest collection of meteorites in the world.

You can even touch them.

That fell to earth as meteors.

It was amazing to hold pieces of MARS and the moon and totally unexpected. I recommend that if you ever find yourself in the area that you go to the museum. Amazing!

Now that is really cool! Thanks for sharing, I really appreciated that wonderful story.

And your flock is looking splendid.

Beautiful greenery. The trees had to be cleared out to make pasture? Those pines in the rear are thick! Good to see Mr P chipper!
35 yrs ago those trees were about 3 and 4 feet tall 😊 that property belongs to someone else, but I used to ride back there all the time, it’s all grown in back there now.

There was an old farmstead there, the stone wall was there and lots of bric-a-brac like those old glass bottles for medicines and whatnot. Also garbage, which was metal, wood and glass. No plastics back then!

I should take a walk back there one day to see what’s become of the old place.

The chili was excellent.

My chickens got all the veggie scraps (except the onion!) And a lil bacon grease on their lunches. We're starting to move to pellet food and they do not understand it yet. They will though, just needs a bit of time. 20240920_193222.jpg
This week I will make a batch of spiced apple butter with a bit of brown sugar, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. It's excellent on homemade bread, or crackers!
