That darn Truly. Loose again on the barn. And falling asleep standing up trying not to fall over.

Meanwhile no wonder the roosters are quiet this morning, truly being loose likely has them all wary….

Good morning sunshine….

Hi folks. Just saying hello. Seven of my seven hens are molting. The run looks like a murder scene. Or a pillow fight.

Bridge seems to have a growth/cyst/lump or something either in her neck or upper crop. I can’t tell. She was shaking her head repeatedly a few weeks ago. I thought it had to do with the start of molt, but now I’m thinking maybe something was poking her on the inside and it turned into a cyst. Kind of like when a dog gets a foxtail in their nose. I’ll probably have to take her to a vet, but she’s in full-blown molt right now, so I’ll probably wait since she seems to be carrying them just fine. (I know. That was quite a carry-on sentence there! 😂)
Hello Michelle - I have a pillow factory here also 😊

Sorry to hear Bridgie is have some sort of issue. Hopefully it resolves itself. Petunia had an impacted crop for over a month, when I was finally going to do a surgery to remove it, the crop had emptied and resolved itself. And then she started moulting.

I am going Bridge resolves on her own also.

Oi boy, chickens…

Good morning all. Have some issues this morning with 4 yes FOUR soft eggs, being laid, I can say that one was likely laid by Tippy. But not sure about the rest.

I have also noted that one of the oldest pullets from this year, has been laying a soft egg past couple weeks in the Summer House (over night), this is were I keep those youngsters for the night.

What is going on here?!

They are fed the Layer pellets and Layer textured feed.

do you offer oyster shells on the side as well? One thing I did that seems to have worked for me was I offered eggs with a tums tablet mixed in with it. this was a little over a week ago when 2 out of my 6 pullets were laying soft shells. I gave it to them for 3 days and I haven't had any issues since. whether it works for you or not i can say but I would try and get some oyster shells for them
