Reassurance please.
I don’t know anything about snakes. Just met this beauty in the chicken run. The chickens are going out of their way to avoid it and it was aggressively lunging at me when I walked past.
I will leave it be unless it might be dangerous.

I concur with @SimpleJenn , I believe it is an Eastern Garter snake.

That said - Tassels, you are a wise woman - it is always better to be safe than sorry!

They are in the run extension for now. They will be safe, if a bit cramped.

We have one black boy, three ermine, and three barred. Hubby likes how they look.

Nocturne is the biggest. She's ayam cemani mix, the lady calls the mix "fibro egger"

It’s harmless, and it will eat mice and other vermin. I encourage them here, in fact they seem to have a hibernaculam in the wall of my barn.

Don’t forget my crazy 2 also! Curly just got rid of her chicks! And goes broody again! She is determined to have more babies.

And Henny Penny always goes broody at this time year - what’s that all about?!
