I usually wait till three or four are trapped until I throw them away. I hate mice, but I hate wasting money on them either!
I assume you are trying to be funny. If so, it did not land. If not, perhaps next time keep that to yourself. It feels unnecessary and provoking.

Popcorn could be thinking about being broody. I had a bunch this year, full on broody and a couple that would go around bok bok bok sit in the box never lay an egg, and beat the crap out of anyone who looked at them.

It does sound as if Popcorn is considering going broody. She's not all the way there, so could go either way.
Thank you both for each of these, very reassuring! ❤️ She even lightly nipped at my hand once while she was on the nest. Though to be fair I was behind her, but reaching around a barrier to her front side, so it might have had the appearance of a disembodied hand coming out of nowhere. But I think I’ve done that before and not had a response like that.
Thank you!

Samara is going broody yet again. She is a round fluff of buk-buk-buk, stealing the fake eggs for her nest, and all around being hormonal.

Peppermint oil and chili powder help deter mice. Not completely but we use those around the house and rarely do mice come in. Cinnamon works better but I am allergic.

Night everyone!

Thanks for the warning.
I really do feel for these poor creatures. Even looking at Bernie makes me feel so bad for her even though she is showing no signs of distress.
It just looks soooo uncomfortable!
I have a bunch moulting here, Reenie’s stall is as much feathers as straw I feel! I say she has a feather mattress.

Now I just went and did chores and poor Eli-too is dropping feathers as fast as she can pluck them out.

Poor Misty is just miserable, Buttercup cannot make it up onto the door top anymore, I put her up there last night but didn’t get to her in time to help her down. She crashed really well, she’s ok but tomorrow morning I will get the ladder and help her down. Then no more up on the door for her.

Blanche, Sophia, petunia are all in various stages of a hard moult, I think Fluffy is starting to moult. Marty is finishing up her moult. I am hoping the youngest hens who are now a yr and half don’t wait too much longer to moult. It’s getting cold now.

Poor Misty

Night everyone!
I still have Henny and Curly broody. I haul them off the nest twice a day. Today they were less than happy as it was rather chilly. They didn’t linger outside for long.
