Young man, there's no need to feel down, I said
Young man, pick yourself off the ground, I Said
Young man, cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy
I've been singing YMCA to him lately
Awesome! Mrs BY Bob used to sing to him too. You are my sunshine was her song.

I've never tried CD's or foil. I have bird netting up for additional cover.
Other than the aesthetic negative of foil or CD's or netting over the chicken yard we made our yard inhospitable to aerial predators who prefer to fly & swoop using their talons to grasp ground prey. We hindered aerial space in the chicken yard by planting Citrus & Pomegranate trees, filling open spaces w/3 popup canopies, benches, lawn furniture, walking bridge, & dog houses for handy hiding places. We gave up confining the hens to their fenced half of the backyard & now they have free poopy range of the people half of the yard too ~ but then, we love their door visits. Putting in the full glass sliding doors was a good entertaining investment!

I am assuming winter came into play. I expect this lady will be relatively old when she lays her first egg.

She is 14 weeks old today. If she were to lay mid-february she will be 40 weeks or 9.5 months old. That will not be a late starter for any reason other than winter arrived as she would normally start laying.
Ooooh! She's getting in some lovely fingerprints!

Here is another friend of my princess but she's getting really comfortable in here now. She insisted on sleeping outside last night so I let her go. This evening Pusscat and Amori was left alone for a hour all on their own and they were fine.

Here she is sleeping in the families shared bed View attachment 3962132
It's wonderful the way she's settled inside with you. Good job taming her, Marie.
