I would put her in a crate for the day if you don’t have her in a proper Hen House. She can poop to her hearts content in a nice bed of shavings 😊

Is there a reason your chook-chook is in the house needing a poop controller?
They’re in the house because these two particular silkies just have zero survival instincts. They don’t go in the coop at night and they don’t leave the coop to go outside when they’re put in it if they wander into the yard, they scream and get lost and then just sit there, the old owner tried trimming their eyes, but she said they couldn’t find anything so I said I could take them in because she didn’t have the resources for an indoor chicken

I was searching what breed Jaffara is. Do you know? One post you state she is Americana. But she looks like a cross between a Rhode Island or Hampshire Red and a Buckeye....The comb, and to a lesser extent the back/wing feathers are wrong for Buckeye....She has a beard? This picture isn't great for seeing that but without one how can she be Americana?
As best I can tell she is one of Hoovers Green/Olive egg layers - she laid a gorgeous olive egg last week. So although she was in the Americauna bin I am 100% sure she is their green egg layer.

I haven’t left them unsupervised in a diaper. I was curious if it would be feasible but I understand now that it’s not. they have a 2 feet wide by 6 foot long pen that I keep them in when I’m at school but besides that they get to walk around, but I’ve noticed that silkies compared to other house chickens just don’t really move. I’ve tried and entice them by sprinkling seeds around and they just stay where they want to stay, snuggle by their food and water tray. It’s not like they’re scared of me. They willingly sit on me. They just don’t actively move around. 😂
They need to be outside - digging up wormies, running flapping hopping about, my silkies are clowns! My one little pullet must have springs in her legs 😁 I really must get some video of her - it’s just hilarious!

I have 6 and they are always getting into things. Brats! And bossy too!

Get them outside - they will show you how funny they are 🥰

@SimpleJenn or @Ponypoor or @BY Bob or anyone else w/Polish ~ take this w/a grain of salt if not interested.

Just read BYC article Chicken bully/chicken victim - a two-sided issue & @Jsnick has Polish where her Polish got woefully scalped so rehomed the offenders & replaced w/ 2 EE's who she thought were gentle but the EEs are now the bullies to her 2 Polish (laying hens are real meanies! chickens in general can be very hostile as we all know). I keep sharing w/ owners about the tendency of gentle Silkies & Polish being easy potential targets by the full-size chickens but no one listens :idunno.

Silkies/Polish have varying shapes of open skull bone where the brain is covered only by skin ~ a perfect peck on the soft spot skull can injure, nerve-damage, cripple, seizure, or cause death eventually.

The Silkies/Polish learn to move fast from bullies but it's still a risk mixing open-skull birds w/ bigger full-size breeds. Must be why Europeans mostly keep their Polish a Polish-only flock & Silkie owners keep Silkies separate. If there are not a sizeable number of Polish or Silkies to form their own sizable flock the single 1 or 2 littles then hang out around the bigger birds & risk getting targeted.

Just my 2 cents from having Silkies & dialoging w/ breeders & other open-skull owners so don't be offended. If you've been lucky so far, fine. This is just potential info to be aware of.
Well to be the other side of the coin, the ones pestering him are his daughters! So half Polish and half what ever their mamas are (mutts mostly), though Betty is half Polish and silkie and she is one of the worst offenders! What a brat! And bossy to boot.

And she weighs next to nothing! Sheesh! I had Betty in his pen but had to removed her as she was starting to pester him again.

My biggest brats are Tippy, Elli-too, Muffy and Ruth (not sure what she is maybe a prairie Bluebell from Hoovers).

What’s with Mr P just putting up with it! He is t afraid to fight the boys.

Thanks for your information and not that it matters but only one EE is going after her. She was on the top of pecking order and I do have another polish who the EE leave alone. So far, and the polish was a great layer in the beginning, she stopped after a light molt. I am new to chicken keeping so I am learning.
Welcome!

We would love to see photos of your flock ♥️

Mixed breeds are a surprise as far as temperaments ~ could go in any direction.

There is a load of sad news this end

My dog is much worse. I've called a vet and it's time for him to sleep.
Plus there's news on princess. I'll fill you all in when I can . But dealing with a huge amount of problems right now.

We have heavy rain which is not helping
Oh no! I hate endings ~ So hard even when we try to prepare for them ~ so-o-o sorry little Munchkin he's so little & cute 😘:hugs

@Sylvester017 thanks for the compliment on my crochet. ❤️ it's definitely my passion haha.
It was mr. Mans turn for a health check, he didn't much enjoy it but when I set him down he stood and watched me.

Starting to get pins and needles on top.

He's seriously one of the most beautiful chickens I've ever met. The giant fan tail! His babies are going to be stunning.

Now both parents have asked if we can keep this cockerel. I'll admit he's cute, but we have to eat some of these birds! Especially the boys!!! I'm starting to lose hope that any of the chicks are girls other than Biscuit!
