She passed away a little bit ago.
I am going to go ahead and close the plastic coop, this is the second bird who has presented as ill from it. Until I can disinfect it and add more ventilation they'll have to use the other coops.
What a bummer
Very sorry to hear this. Chickens are very good at hiding their illnesses. Until too late 😞

Lots of AI activity around also. Keep an eye on your gang. Though not much you can do. Other than try to keep wild birds away.

Ok I am keeping good thoughts for everyone. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Clyde the Brave and Mr Little Chicken. Clyde is so much bigger than he is now!

Scary looking couple of velociraptors!

The plastic coop doesn't have enough ventilation, with all the younger chickens crammed inside someone ends up off the roost. It smelled strongly of ammonia which can cause respiratory distress.
So until I can get it sorted it is closed off. It's raining here so that will be tomorrow.
Cookie is mad at me because it’s her preferred place to lay eggs.

I am worried about AI since she went from breathing fine yesterday to dying this morning. But if that is the cause then there's nothing that I can do to save my birds. Crap situation.

I agree with @Sylvester017. That poor girl has a respiratory infection. She is struggling to breathe.
It might be viral in which case antibiotics won’t help. But you should keep a close eye on everyone else as it may well be contagious.
Antibiotics are useful for the residual subsequent infections that respiratory stress brings on. I get sinus infections after contracting viral flu's & that's where antibiotics help. But truthfully a wheezing breath or gaping chicken breathing is rarely fixable.

We rushed our wheezing Silkie Mini to the vet after sitting up w/her all night thinking she'd be dead by morning but we got her emergency squeezed in at the vet early enough to save her. A Baytril injection into her chest & Metcam & she was bouncing around by the time we got home from the vet. The thing is either resign ourselves to losing a gaping chicken or get it to a vet asap. Not a guarantee it saves a bird but it helped ours. Mini lived another 4 years.

If there's one thing that lasts long it's got to be PCs. I still use a 15 year old one here.

I am thinking of getting a new one to hopefully last a longer while, but it's impressive what you can do with a older device if all you do is documents and web browsing.
Towers last the best for upgrades over a longer period of time. I've had one all-in-one computer (do not recommend at all - the CD's can get stuck & the units are huge on the table taking way too much space & having to add a separate keyboard also), & I've additionally had two laptops while DH has been able to upgrade his standing tower w/cards, etc, while I've gone thru 3 'puters! He just now treated himself to a new tower unit.

People use their phones for internet access which DH does occasionally but using a regular 'puter at home is my most reliable access.

'Puter talk tx ~ Mini, our miracle survivor ~
Mini had so many health issues that our vet treated ~ it was educational health issues practice for us w/ our subsequent backyard birds

I kept this one alive with a SSD and a used GPU. Both were good upgades from the older parts.
A lot of all in ones are laptops without batteries and with a bigger screen.
