I have a habit of jumping around on the site, sometimes I just ‘look’ at the photos, other times just pop in to say hi.

Sometimes I read the posts.

I am still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation. I was feeling fairly confident she had Coryza in her flock, nothing too serious.

I really wish I were closer to go and help her and just give her a huge hug.

I just...it makes me very sad.

I'm worried about my chooks now. The sparrows invade their feeder whenever they can. We got some bird netting in today to bird proof the coop but those sparrows are very crafty with their ways of getting in.

Yes it does. Sometimes I get so furious about the unfairness of some things. But then I stop and tell myself it is how things are. We have to take the good with the bad. This is how we learn to cherish the good things.

I don’t have feed outside normally when they are outside foraging. I keep it inside the barn. This way squirrels and birds don’t get into it. I also put my feed away at night to limit access with rats and mice. I also keep water sources locked away from them.

So many things to do to keep vermin away. It’s hard work.

It's really hard. Locking up the feed is not a big deal. The other problem lies in that the chooks are out most of the day while I keep a eye on them, their coop is on the other side of the yard, and their water is freely accessible, and I don't know of anything to keep the sparrows out of it.

They are but @MaryJanet has been successful in defeating her sparrows. It just takes determination.

Yep I have a few nekked ladies thank goodness it’s been mild! Rose is getting pin feathers in and just looks horrible.

It's been about a month for Charlotte too. She's supposed to be a fuzzy chocolate silkie.


She's looking better than when it started.

English ones I think are the worst! They tore out my bluebird houses and took them over.

We used to get a lot from the farm across the road. I exchanged all the wild bird seed in our wild bird feeders for only sunflower seeds and for the mostpart they don't come here anymore. I'm also a good shot with my 20-gauge.
